World Cup: Germany vs Ghana – half

The Group D match-up of Germany and Ghana is technically an easy call. Germany should win, likely by 2 goals. But what looks easy to call on paper is very different in relaity.
Ghana is the team to watchout for. They have been the aggressors. They have ownership of the midfield, and have deftly found holes in the German defenses. 3 times they have been in the penalty box and looking for the killing blow. So far Germany has been lucky enough to have avoided that strike.
Germany for it’s part looks far more relaxed than Ghana. They have been steady in their game, attacking from the wings. They’ve exploited the backfield 2x’s, each without converting that to a point.
Neither team has been stellar in the first half. Both have been sloppy on their passes. Germany in the middle of the field, Ghanna in the crosses. Each has given the opponent clear runs and control of the ball in dagerous areas of the pitch. Coming back from the half both will have to make serious changes.
For Germany the pace of the game needs to slow down. They need to gain dominance in possession. Most important they need to connect in the final 1/3 of the pitch with each other.
For Ghana, the key is passing percision and a willingness to take the shot. of the 2 best chances to get a goal in the first half indecision was the factor that cost the goal. #3 Asamoah Gyan and #13 André Ayew both had great chances for the goal and each hesitated allowing Germany a chance to regroup.
Germany will likely add on another Forward in the second half, Ghana will need to shore up the right side of the defense.
It will be a game. And with no score yet from the other mach in Group D, anything is still possible.
