Gary Sinise and Lt. Dan Band to play in Staten Island
By Michael Vass | August 9, 2010
Many people recognize Gary Sinise from his current role in the popular television series CSI:NY. Many can recall his many movie roles, especially his respected work as Lt. Dan – a Viet Nam vet who lost his legs in the film Forest Gump. But what some may not be familiar with is the efforts of Sinise to help the wounded soldiers of our nation.
Sinise has been actively supporting several organizations and groups dedicated to giving back to wounded soldiers from all the wars and conflicts that America has had. It is something that has come directly from his role as Lt. Dan. It was after that role that he was first requested to speak at a function for wounded warriors, and since then it has been a passion that Sinise has followed diligently.
One of the ways that Sinise has been able to raise awareness of the 3 million wounded veterans in America right now, has been his band (the Lt. Dan Band) playing fundraising concerts. It is in this way that he will be helping to raise funds in Staten Island for SPC Brendan Marrocco.
SPC Marrocco was serving in Iraq and was wounded by a bomb that cause him to become a quadruple amputee. Building Homes for Heroes and Stephen Siller Children’s Foundation have been raising funds to build a home for SPC Marrocco that will be adaptaed to fit his unique needs. Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band will also be aiding this effort.
On August 21st, at the St. George Theatre in Staten Island, NY – from 8pm on – The Lt. Dan Band and others will be performing with proceeds going towards the new home for SPC Marrocco. For Tickets to the event go to www.stgeorgetheatre.com/events.html
If you are going to be around the Staten Island area on the 21st, we at M V Consulting, Inc. suggest you consider going to the concert and aid this worthy cause.
