Haiti – an update on how you helped
By Michael Vass | August 11, 2010
Back in March I mentioned on this blog that an old school friend of mine (Johnathan Cahr) and his band were going to do a concert to raise money for Haiti after the devastating earthquake there. Johnathan’s band, What’s Up Band, joined with others to draw a huge crowd in an effort to make a difference. With the help of all those that attended a difference was indeed made.
In total $17,000 was raised from that benefit concert. It was money that was well used, providing an 8,000 gallon water tank – twice the size of normal water tanks.
The water tank is located just outside Leogane, which was near the epicenter of the massive earthquake that rocked the island nation. Like many essential items, water is a commodity we take for granted that those in Haiti do not. While nothing will ever made the tragedy of the earthquake go away, your help and the effort of the What’s Up Band, and others, have gone a long way in helping restore some normality and essentials of life for the people of Haiti.
We are glad to have been a very small part of helping, in promoting the charity event, and thank all those that participated.
[By the way, the graffitti art was done by local Hatian artists. In case you wondered.]

Wonderful article about one terrific band that truly makes a difference in the lives of others with everything they do! How fortunate that you & Jonathan were classmates. This article is beautifully written!
I’m glad you enjoyed the article. I hope you check back for all my other articles too.
And Johnathan always was a good guy. So no surprise he still continues to be one.
