M V Consulting, Inc. Releases 2008 Annual Growth Figures

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 10, 2009 -- M V Consulting, Inc. released information of the growth of several divisions of the company today. The company stated that for the full year of 2008 the company recorded significant growth in 4 of its 5 division. This growth was consistent both in each quarter and the entire year.

"In 2008, M V Consulting, Inc. encountered the same difficulties of expansion, credit, and consumer reluctance that highlighted all corporations," stated the President of M V Consulting, Michael Vass. He went on to say, "Yet the Company went on to improve and record significant growth in virtually every aspect of what we do. By almost every metric that a corporation can be judged by we outperformed, and given the environment we did this in it is even more impressive."

M V Consulting, Inc. does not release exact numbers of its performance, as these numbers are considered proprietary to the Company. But the Company does provide growth percentages and other metrics to the general public.

Growth in the Company's oldest blog site, Black Entertainment USA (http://www.blackentertainmentblog.com), continued its record of year over year expansion.

  • The site reached a milestone of over 1000 posts in 2008
  • Visitors to the blog site increased by 56%
  • Unique visitors (first time traffic) jumped by 137%
  • Pages viewed by visitors, and the time spent on the site, reached record levels, up 65%
  • The site consistently reached internet viewers in at least 125 countries around the globe each month for the year

In the Company's political blog, VASS (http://www.mvass.com), the first full year comparisons were made with remarkable results.

  • The site reached a milestone of exceeding 500 posts in 2008
  • Unique visitors increased by 138%
  • Page views by visitors, and time on the site, increased over 250%
  • Visitors skyrocketed by over 50%

The Company's online clothing and consumer goods store (http://www.cafepress.com/nova68) had equally impressive results for 2008. Increased sales were attributed to the increase in product lines form 8 in 2007 to 18 at the end of December 2008. At the end of the year over 1500 separate items are now available in the Company's store. The Company has also expanded on the number of models and photo shoots to display the various designer clothing lines, in excess of 200% in 2008.

In addition to the blogs and sites of the Company, the writing of primary author and President Michael Vass increased from being directly submitted for 8 non-Company blogs and sites to over 115 blogs and sites. Included in that expansion on the internet is one of the major milestone achievements of the Company for 2008.

  • TV One, which reaches 40 million people via its cable network channel, expanded its collaboration with the Company as it featured the VASS political blog as 1 of 2 blogs to provide its online visitors with commentary on the 2008 Presidential election.

  • Several other events that the Company was involved in during 2008 include:

  • Charitable work and donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities on behalf of the Madden Cordero Memorial, and to Not On Our Watch

  • Active promotion of voter registration.

  • The purchase of larger work facilities.

  • The creation of a Youtube channel featuring video editorials by Michael Vass.

  • Coverage of the Wesley Snipes, Sean Bell, and other trials.

  • Coverage of the entire Democratic and Republican Primaries, and the election campaigns of the Democratic and Republican Presidential candidates.

  • The Company's site became ranked among the top .5% of all blogs in the world (as ranked by Technorati out of 55 million blogs).

  • Reviews of numerous movies, books, videogames and other items.

The only division of the Company to remain flat in 2008 was its search engine optimization (SEO) division. This was attributed to lack of promotion equal to that of other divisions of the Company.

Michael Vass commented, "There is nothing like the ability of the Company to grow as it has, in the face of the credit crisis and uncertain economic stability. I must believe that there are only positive reasons why so many people from across the world have sought out the blogs and sites of the Company, and I promise to maintain the levels of credibility and responsible dissemination of information that we have come to be so well regarded for."

The best, most popular, and different posts of 2008 on Black Entertainment USA

For my last post of 2008 I wanted to look back and see what were some of the most popular posts I had written, and what I consider some of favorites. I know I am highly critical of things that displease me, so I thought I'd turn that same critical eye towards myself for a change.

I must say that in looking over the hundreds of posts I wrote on Black Entertainment USA alone this year, some just don't belong here. Some of the comments are far more political than anything else. And I can't use the excuse I have no where else to have said these things - I do own a political blog as well.

And I admit to having a few posts where I was just far too tired. I should have gone to sleep. Or taken that vacation all my friends have heard me speak about over the last 15 years (I've had 2 vacations in my life, none exceeding a week or involving travel). But instead I must apologize because they were really sub-par, even for a bad day.

Still overall I will say that roughly 80% or more of my posts were relevant and interesting. Many are topical and focused on the events of the day. Looking back some are not as important as I first thought they were, and others far more than I would give credit. And several posts were popular that I would not have expected to be.

Some of the top Black Entertainment USA posts of 2008, as viewed and/or commented by you my readers were:

So there is a Black guy in an elevator...
Audi television commercial says we are all not the same
OJ Simpson convicted - kangaroo court closed
OJ Simpson trial - injustice unreported
The new 90210 - is it cancelled yet?
NASCAR, Mauricia Grant, and my opinion
Is Robert Downey Jr funny as an African American?
Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman to return to cable television
VH1’s Top 100 of rap music celebrates the positives of the genre

It's an interesting group of posts indeed. And I think that I got it right in those posts. Not that everyone agreed with my view, just that they felt something after reading it. And that ultimately is one of my goals.

But I looked over the entire year and I saw a couple of other posts that I thought were very important, and/or meant something to me directly. Not all of them were relevant, given, but they said something important. And I want to present them again. Again you may not agree with my view, but I hope my top 10 will motivate some reaction. [Oh since 3 of my top 10 are in the above list that you my readers have found of interest, I will substitute 3 others]

NJ considers apology for slavery (part 1, 2, 3, 4)
Tiger Woods comment impacts Dr. Martin Luther King birthday (part 1, 2)
President Bush and Darfur now - not the movie
R Kelly - next stop Neverland Ranch
Janet Jackson: Intelligence, success, and fame are not enough
Black Americans - commodity, criminals, or something much more
Do you know enough about the 2008 Presidential election?
1st Annual Memorial Pig Roast for Madden A. Cordero - please read and donate if you can
50 cent sells a new opiate to the masses
Movie Review Iron Man

I also found the time to champion a couple of other causes that aren't the most popular or widely held:
Boycott 33 variations - Hanoi Jane Fonda
Levi's 501 jeans - promoting HIV and AIDS?

Found a video on Youtube I really liked - Try This with an Xbox360 or PS3 - and one I though was an abysmal joke - Snoop Dogg in Country Music: a bad experiment

And I achieved a great step forward for my company as well:
M V Consulting, Inc and TV One Announce Collaboration - Press Release
Introducing the first 2009 model Ashley

And of course I found the time to pick a fight:
Viacom (and maybe Jon Stewart) doesn't like Black Entertainment USA. Maybe.

So I wasn't just speaking about entertainment this year. But considering all the things that were going on, all the changes, and the things I felt mattered, I think I covered a lot of what you wanted to read about.

In 2009 I will try to stay on point a bit more. But as always I will share with you my thoughts and views about the important topics affecting all our lives as well as our entertainment. And I always look forward to your comments [yes even the dissenting views that are thought out beyond just cursing me out] about what I present.

2008 has been a tough year, no matter what country race or whatever you may be. 2009 will be different, and I hope that all of my readers, and those that will become my readers, their families and friends will share in a prosperous and peaceful year.

M V Consulting, Inc. Announces Milestone at Black Entertainment USA

New York (PRWEB) December 2, 2008 -- M V Consulting, Inc. announced today the achievement of a major milestone breakthrough within its Black Entertainment USA blog (BEB). The BEB blog, which is focused on entertainment news, sports, movie previews and reviews, television shows, and race relations issues in the media has been in existence for 3 years. In that time it has grown to be in the top .1% of blogs (out of the estimated 100 million+ in the world) with visitors from 125 nations every month.

Black Entertainment USA has now published its 1000th post. This milestone places the entertainment blog alongside some of the largest blogs, many national newspapers, and beyond most magazines in terms of publication rates. In 3 years the blog has gone from an unknown to maintaining readership that exceeds many mid-sized city periodicals.

In achieving 1000 posts, BEB has solidified its position as a leading internet destination for entertainment news commentary. Visitors read about all aspects of entertainment and interact with commentary as only the blogosphere allows. Hundreds have shared their thoughts, confirming the stature of the blog.

Michael Vass, President of M V Consulting, Inc., stated,

"Having crossed the 1000th post threshold at Black Entertainment USA, and nearly clearing 2000 posts when you include our political blog, I must admit my pleasure. The most important thing though has been the input and readership of tens of thousands of visitors each month." Mr. Vass went on to say, "From across the globe, representing every walk of life and growing each month, the visitors to the blogs of the Company make it all worthwhile. And now advertisers are recognizing these achievements. It's a great feeling."

In addition to this major milestone there are several milestones in the other divisions at M V Consulting's sites. These include:

    1. Over 600 posts at the political orientated blog - VASS
    2. The selection of VASS as 1 of 2 blogs that covered the entire Presidential election cycle for TV One's online website
    3. Exponential growth in key demographics of visitors such as 19 - 49 year olds, African Americans and Hispanics/Latinos, the college and post-college educated, and those earning $30,000 - $100,000 and above
    4. The continued expansion of the clothing lines featured at the Company's online store
    5. Increased visitors to the Company's online store
    6. Success in gaining initial advertisers
    7. Donations to charitable organizations and events growth
    8. The purchase of new office spaces for the Company

Another milestone that has been achieved is the recognition of M V Consulting, Inc. President and primary author Michael Vass in the blogosphere. Mr. Vass has grown from obscurity to writing for the Company's blogs to currently being the primary and/or contributing author at over 100 blogs besides those of the Company.

Additional growth of the Company will be detailed in the annual announcement.

Advertising With M V Consulting, Inc.

As the various blogs and sites of M V Consulting, Inc. have grown opportunities for advertising have increased as well. This of course matches the growth of the blogs and general internet use. Back in 2005, when Black Entertainment USA was created, roughly 60% of homes had at least 1 computer and 5% of internet users visited a blog regularly. Today while first time computer purchases are relatively flat visitors to blogs have grown to approximately 15%, up 300%.

Black Entertainment USA (BEB) in 2005 started like a tree falling in the woods. Gaining a mere handful of visitors and author Michael Vass unknown to search engines. Such is the start of most businesses.

But the growth in blog visitors and corporation ownership, like Microsoft, is nothing compared to M V Consulting’s sites. BEB is now seen in over 115 countries every month with enough visitors to fill a mid-sized city. Today BEB is ranked among the top 86,000 out of over 55,000,000 blogs in the whole world. This growth, which continues even now, cannot be marked in hundreds of percentage but tens of thousands of percent!

The junior blog of M V Consulting, VASS, has had similar growth and perhaps more targeted attention. While not as old as BEB, this blog is extremely popular in North America and other English speaking nations. Focused on social issues, politics, and the U.S. Presidential election this blog has been highly recognized. VASS is one of 2 blogs featured by TV One (a cable network with over 40 million subscribers) at its online website for the Presidential election coverage.

And Author Michael Vass, once an unknown voice, is now a highly searchable and respected blogger covering a wide spectrum of topics of interest. Mr. Vass can now be found via the Google engine (in web and image searches), Yahoo, MSN, frequently on the African American Opinion, African American Political Opinion, B.I.G. Magazine online as a guest writer, and over 22 blogs of the 1800blogger family of blogs – all in addition to his writing at the M V Consulting blogs.

The net result is that the sites of M V Consulting are a perfect format for any company that seeks to reach American or international attention and internet visitors. Companies of all sizes advertising to African Americans, Whites, Men and/or Women, the college educated, singles and married internet users between the ages of 18 – 55 will find that the M V Consulting websites matches or exceeds (by as much as 250%) the internet averages for each target consumer group.

To learn more about the advertising rates and ad restrictions (ie. no pornography, no sites linking to pornography, no redirected links, ect.) please see the Ad Rates.

  • M V Consulting, Inc. reserves the right to deny any ad it deems objectionable, inflammatory, or pornographic.

  • The sites of M V Consulting. Inc. will never list more than 10 client ads maximum (including banners on top or bottom of a page) on any site – with the number being based on limiting distraction to readers and visitors as determined by M V Consulting itself.

Success in 2007 - Thank You

As the year is coming to an end I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the reasons why I have had a successful and prosperous year. I would love to say it was merely my efforts and quality of my writing that has grown all my blogs and M V Consulting, Inc. But to say that would be a lie.

In the past year I have spoken with, read blogs and articles by, and debated with multiple bloggers, programmers, graphic artists, lawyers, friends and associates. It is because of this multitude of people I have had the ideas, and comments I have shared with you all, and it has shaped in part or in whole the look of all my sites. I can only hope I will always be aware enough to pay attention to such good advice and insight, and thus provide the caliber of posts you have all come to expect.

In particular there are several that stand out and I want to thank directly. I invite you to review their sites and blogs as well.

    Top blogs

  • http://www.Buzzologysurveys.blogspot.com – A long time supporter of my blogs and efforts. I’m always happy to work with this blogger.

  • http://caseylartigue.blogspot.com - One of the bloggers that joined me in the TV One sponsored live commentary on the Heartland Presidential Forum.

  • http://www.polichicksonline.com - Another of the bloggers that joined me in the TV One sponsored live commentary on the Heartland Presidential Forum.

  • http://www.africanamericanopinion.com – A site I cross-blog at that also occasionally provides me thoughts to post on. Filled with multiple views that cross the spectrum.

  • http://www.1800blogger.com – I am a contributing author to multiple blogs here and work closely with this company.

    Sites

  • http://www.tvoneonline.com/presidentialforum.asp - TV One selected my blog and several other bloggers to comment live on the Heartland Presidential Forum. You can see the Forum at this site, and also get to view the 5 bloggers invited to be involved in this event.

  • http://www.theaddesignguys.com - Graphic Design Services – My graphic designer, who takes my jumbled ideas and turns them into the polished t-shirt, mug, Teddy bear, and site graphics you see.

  • http://www.authorsontheweb.com – They selected my blog to review the Robin Roberts book, From the Heart, and worked with me in providing my first give away contest.

  • http://www.prweb.com – The media outlet that I use to distribute my press releases. Affordable, and effective in reaching the world.

  • http://www.cafepress.com – The basis on which my online store functions. Making it possible for even new entrepreneurs to be in business for themselves.

    Guest Writers and Friends

Each of these individuals has helped me consistently provide quality posts. Several have directly or indirectly created posts found at Black Entertainment USA or Vass

  • Michael H.
  • Audrey B.
  • Claudia M.
  • Jennifer V.

    Special note

  • Mr. Malik Shabazz – the attorney for Ms. Megan Williams in West Virginia. I’ve spoken with him several times, and supported his efforts at the rally to draw national attention to the horrendous kidnapping, torture, and rape of Ms. Williams.

It is in part due to the efforts and help of the above mentioned sites and people that I have been able to have the success that 2007 has been. I look forward to continuing the relationships I have, and growing to include others in 2008.

To those I have mentioned, and most importantly you my readers, I say thank you. None of my efforts would matter with out you.

Comment about Jam Donaldson's Note to Editor - 7.22.2007.2

This is written to Ms. Jam Donaldson in response to her Note from the Editor found on her site.

I find your words quite interesting. Sadly I do not share you vision on how to air the laundry, nor to improve the situation. The television show being prepared to be shown on Black Entertainment Television (BET) is hardly an uplifting or critical view of African Americans. That may have been your intention, but I think a lot was lost in the translation.

You are correct, I feel, that as the efforts of the Civil Rights Movement become less directly connected to each new generation, the standards are falling in our communities. The glorification of drugs, overall lack of strong fathers, dependence on “keeping up with the jones,” and lack of self-discipline have ravaged our community. We have collectively reinforced our negatives while mocking our positives. The result is the current state of things.

Addressing these issues is important, and needs to be discussed openly. We can no longer ignore the facts of what is happening every day. Ignoring the issues will not make them go away, and failing to educate ourselves on the solutions provides further downfalls.

That said, to promote a program that features the worst actions in our community can be a tool for change. But such a program must be carefully made and its tone extremely precise. The room for error is almost non-existent, as missing the mark only creates an impression (internationally and domestically) of foolishness, stupidity and mindlessness. In the worst cases, it can even lead to promoting the worst qualities as some would seek out the 5 minutes of fame this might provide, or take such a program as vindication of their actions.

Even more delicate is the issue of comedy to express these elements. Comedy is subjective at best, and when taken out of context completely lost. Comedy based on a specific community is a context that often eludes anyone outside of that community. It’s a narrow brush that cannot hope to cover a canvas.

It is for these reasons that I find issue with Hot Ghetto Mess, the television program. The description by BET, on their website, states clearly that something seems to have been lost in your translation. Every indication given leads to the conclusion that this program is exploitive and not in the best interest of the community. It’s emphasis on displaying “shaking booties, thug life, baby-mama drama and pimped-out high schoolers”, and being “like the traffic accident you can’t look away from” appears gratuitous at best.

The fact that BET, and it’s parent company Viacom, refuse to comment on the program and that they have denied all requests to review the program by critics and news organizations seems to suggest that exploitive and gratuitous may indeed be what the program is. The further fact that even mid- to high-level executives at BET have not seen the program (at least as of a week ago) implies that the program is less than beneficial. This feeling is further compounded by the programing BET has provided in the past (like College Hill and Uncut) and has removed (such as the news programming).

“Just because you are poor doesn’t mean you don’t have to support your children, respect women, live in a pig sty or you can have 5 kids by different fathers.”

This is true. It is also true that just because you have an opportunity to gain wealth, success, and fame it should be taken. Some things have a price that is too high. A controversial program that is hidden from critical review, on a subject matter that is sensitive and has potentially wide ramifications, that presents itself as exploitive in nature is too high a cost for me.

A program that features the quote I have included, in a comical and contextless manner, does not further the efforts of individuals like Dr. Bill Cosby. A program of that nature is validation of actions, much like we have seen recorded fights being shown on YouTube have validated and promoted such action in some uneducated minds.

“All we got is us people. We can’t afford to live like we’re living. From school, to clothing to music, to our children—where have our standards gone?”

Where are the standards indeed. Not only in the places you mentioned but also movies and television, and now the internet. In the mirror you are holding up, take a long look. Our community has problems, but in the manner it has been proposed and hidden to date, Hot Ghetto Mess appears to add to those problems and not detract from them.

    Sincerely,

Surprise, where are the minority leads on tv - 3.14.2007.1

I am shocked and amazed. I would even go so far as stupefied. You might wonder why, if not for a friend making me aware of some news I would as well. In this case though I am referring to my reaction to the article found on Yahoo TV, Black leads still absent from network dramas by Nellie Andreeva. It seems that Black Americans are underrepresented in television. With no disrespect to Ms. Andreeva, no kidding.

Finally there is some media coverage on a subject I have directly discussed in no less than 3 posts, the earliest dating back to December 2005. In my post Minorities, Television and 27 percent, I highlight the fact that broadcast television, television commercials and movies ignore the relevance and existance of non-whites. A particularly relevant section from that post goes on to say, “The facts taken in total make a profound statement, that is seen and felt not only in the US but also throughout the world. Broadcasters appear, in my opinion, to state that any non-white is relatively unimportant. That no attempt at providing quality programming targeted to these groups is required or of practical use. Perhaps it could be summarized as 'the less seen the better'? That offends me.”

Yet I feel that Ms. Andreeva seems to make an excuse for this fact. That it’s ok that no dramatic television program starring an African American, or Latino/Hispanic, or Asian, has ever fared well. Her reasoning is that the majority of viewers are White and thus do not connect to leads unlike them. It feels like Ms. Andreeva is also relegating Black American leads to only roles that are restricted to a type, such military officers because, “Most dramas are in some way relatable to your life, whether it is about families or cops, something you see every day.” [This quote is in the above mentioned article but made by Mr. Tim Brooks.]

I disagree with such a thought excusing the lack of leading African American, Latino/Hispanic, Asian and other minority actors. The reality that television hopes to evade is that better than 1 in 4 Americans is a person of color. Millions of Americans work with, for, and/or under the supervision of people of color every day. People of color have held positions of power and prominence for some time now, and I do not like the implication that those individuals have not, or do not, exist.

I dispute the theme proposed that a White audience cannot accept a lead character that is African American, or a person of color. In my post German police and television programing - 10.05.2006.2, I stated, “Take your choice of programs made by HBO, Showtime, FX, Spike or others. I’m speaking of The Shield, Thief, Blade the series, Eureka, and many others. In each program there is a diversity of race, sexuality and flaws that are just caricatured in broadcast show. There are actually characters that you can identify with as a person of color. And in several of these shows we see leads like Mr. Andre Braugher that show that African Americans, and other minorities, are easily capable of being leads and cores of their respective shows. There is more depth in their performances than the usual limitation to comedy shows and minor secondary characters broadcast television has tried to shove down our collective throats for decades.”

Repost of Letter to Senator Obama - 1.22.2007.1

This is a repost of the letter sent to Senator Obama, found orginally at Vass. Any response from the Senator will be posted unaltered when received.

    January 22, 2007
    Dear Senator Obama,

I am contacting you today as part of an ongoing series of letters that I am sending to many of those that are planning to run for President of the United States. To date I have written letters to Senator Clinton, Mr. John Edwards, and Mr. Mitt Romney.

I am the author/writer of several blog sites including Black Entertainment USA (www.blackentertainmentblog.com). My letter to you, as well as any response from you will be posted on these sites without alteration.

Senator Obama I am aware that you are a junior Senator, having served 2 years at this time, representing Illinois. As I am from New York I am not familiar with the platforms you were elected for. What was the main issue that you campaigned on, and what progress have you made in attaining that? What laws have you helped to pass, or prevented from passing, that have directly benefited your constituents and African Americans in general?

As a fellow African American I’m sure you are aware that there are several issues that are of great impact to the Black community. One of the most important may be the issue of education. What have you done to improve the number of African Americans that finish high school and/or seek higher education? If you were to be elected President, what plan would you follow that will improve the education system in America?

In terms of your own education I ask a question that has recently been in the news. It has been stated that during the 4 years in Jakarta you had attended a Madrasa. I wonder if you feel this has any influence on the education you received, or more importantly do you believe that having lived and studied overseas provided you any benefit that your peers may not have had?

It has also been stated that you are a smoker. If this is true do you believe that has any effect on your views on healthcare? In addition how do you feel about the current trend to leave businesses without a choice and disallow smoking? Do you believe that the smoking ban is fair to businesses, and does it make sense to have a ban while also allowing adult citizens to purchase cigarettes?

As a lawyer that worked on civil rights issues, what do you believe you can do, or are doing currently, to improve the rights of African Americans and Latino/Hispanic Americans or any other people of color in this nation? What do you feel is the largest obstacle and what plan do you have to remove it?

In terms of national healthcare, do you agree with the push for a national healthcare system? If you do how would you have this program funded? What would you do to motivate institutions and individuals to seek out new innovations with the profit motive removed? How would you ensure that a national program would not function in the same manner most feel other government institutions do, such as the education system (which most feel is a failure)?

What role, if any, do you feel religion plays in the government? Do you believe that the fact you have never served in the Armed Forces would have any effect on your ability to perform as Commander-and-Chief?

Speaking of the Armed Forces, at this time there is a general feeling that the war in Iraq is going badly. President Bush has just announced a plan that would elevate the number of troops serving in Iraq. The democratic party is generally opposed to this plan. What exact alternative would you implement in place of this current plan, and what plan would you establish to ensure the safety of Americans if Iraq becomes more unstable (thus promoting terrorist attacks on America)?

Do you feel that the fact you have little experience in the Senate, or with dealing with international politics, is a hindrance to your ability to act as President and if not why?

Recently there has been a growing apprehension among some in the nation about the number of immigrant that are allowed into the nation for non-European nations (as per Rep. Goode). How do you feel about this? Also there is a strong debate on what to do about the large numbers of illegal immigrants. What plan do you have to deal with this issue?

I thank you for taking the time to read and to respond to this letter. As I stated earlier this will be posted on several sites, particularly Black Entertainment USA (at the address noted above).

    Sincerely,

    Michael Vass

Repost of original letter to Mr. John Edwards - 1.17.2007.3

This is an excact copy of my original letter to Mr. John Edwards, posted at Vass.

    January 5, 2007
    Mr. John Edwards,

I recently heard of your decision to run for President of the United States. I am owner and author of multiple blogs, one of which deals primarily with political issues and individuals. This letter is both based on my personal interest and that of my readers. [My sites include www.mvass.com and www.blackentertainmentblog.com]

I am a native American citizen, with my heritage coming from African Americans and Latino Americans. I was born and raised in the Northeast, though I have traveled and lived across the country and am a former Marine. The focus of the blogs are presenting news and events from the perspective of an African Latino American view; which I feel is under-represented in the media.

Given these facts, and that I am largely unfamiliar with your past, I have several questions for you. I have already asked several questions of Senator Clinton and am awaiting her response. I intend to ask similar questions of all (or at least most) individuals that intend to run for the office of the President. I look forward to your responses.

I understand that you have pursued initiatives in healthcare, education, social security and medicare throughout your time in the Senate, and previous to that to a degree in your work as a lawyer. In regard to your work in the Senate, what laws did you initiate, that were passed, that directly improved these issues for Americans in general, and Black and/or Latino Americans specifically? What exactly do you propose to improve the education system in America, specifically for those students in the inner city?

In regard to your desire to create a universal healthcare system in the United States, how do you expect that system to be paid for? In addition what do you believe will be a motivation for professionals and medical industries to work to current standards or to create new advances without the benefit of profit?

What exact plan do you have that will allow Social Security to continue to exist or to be modified for future generations as the baby boomer generation continue to age and existing funds continue to fail to meet the need?

In the 2006 mid-term elections, the democratic party won several seats in both the House and Senate with the cry of changing the current policy in Iraq. What is your exact position on Iraq? I feel that it is not possible to support the troops and question the mission that we have sent them on. I further feel that to remove the funding of the troops, while still engaged in the mission, is neither a show of support nor a plan to win. Do you agree or disagree with this? If you were to be Commander and Chief of our troops what would you have them do to complete our mission in Iraq? Do you feel that the fact that you have never served in the military is a benefit or detriment to the country?

Your party, as I have understood, has no stated plan to change the events and status for the war in Iraq or against terrorism, beyond the statement that change is needed. What exact plan do you wish to implement if you were to be elected that could prevent future attacks by terrorists against this nation?

In terms of the economy, what exactly do you propose that will help those below the middle class to improve their standard of living? It is often held that the democratic party believes that taxes, particularly for the upper incomes, should be increased to provide funds for programs that benefit those of lower income, do you agree with this position? As a business owner and member of the middle class I would like to know what are your economic plans for the country?

Considering events such as the shooting of Mr. Sean Bell, the Duke rape case, the Rodney King riots and other similar events have highlighted the racial tensions that continue to exist in the nation, what would you do to help improve race relations.

Perhaps one of my biggest questions is that America has apologized and made reparations to Native American Indians and Japanese Americans for atrocities and crimes made in the past. Given this fact, how do you justify that America has never made an apology or considered reparations for slavery, jim crow, and segregation. Would you as the President finally provide an apology for these acts? Would you make reparations, and if so what might those reparations entail?

I must mention that I intend to post this to the abovementioned blog. In addition to posting this I will post your response, unaltered, on the blog as well.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

    Sincerely,

    Michael Vass

M V Consulting, Inc. Announces Growth and Expansion Through 2006

This is a copy of my recent press release issued Jan 9, 2007

New York, NY (PRWeb) January 9, 2007 -- Mr. Michael Vass, president of M V Consulting, Inc. ("MVC") and author of Black Entertainment USA (www.blackentertainmentblog.com) and Vass (www.mvass.com) - wholly owned by MVC, announced the achievement of milestones and annual growth for the year ending December 31, 2006. Since the January 2006 launch of the websites over 320 web posts have been published to date. In this first year of operation there has been a large range of topics covered including: Black African American cultural trends in television, theatrical movies, music videos, video games; news relating to athletes, musicians, politicians, actors and other entertainers and celebrities; reviews of movies, books, and restaurants; national and or international events such as the World Cup and the war in Iraq.

"This has been an incredible year of growth. Since the inception of the sites there have been tens of thousands of visitors the sites owned by MVC. Visitors to the sites have come from countries across the globe including England, Ireland, Japan, Kuwait, Lesotho, Oman, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, and Venezuela to name a few. Acceptance on a global basis as has happened is a happy surprise and an expression of the need for honest commentary from a unique perspective," stated Mr. Vass.

Mr. Vass went on to say that, "With the speed that news and events can be learned of and communicated, larger media cannot always provide enough time for a topic that may be of interest. Busy individuals can't always take the time to seek out subjects that are important to them, if they even know these subjects have news. The fact that these sites also contain a personal viewpoint on these subjects adds a level of personal interaction that many media outlets cannot provide. These are the assets that I feel are vital to the growth that has occurred and continues as I speak. "

The websites, a blend of a traditional website and a blog (or weblog), have continued to expand in their content throughout the year. Currently the websites include sections such as a biography of Mr. Vass, original poetry, audio files for both the poetry and selected web posts, a continuously growing reference list of websites and information of importance, 2 reader feedback surveys, portions of a storyboard for a potential graphic novel or motion picture, a large and growing catalogue with models showcasing unique clothing lines found at the company's online store (cafepress.com/nova68), and a simple but effective sitemap to help guide visitors through the sites.

For additional information on this release, comments about this article, or general site information contact Mr. Michael Vass or visit either BlackEntertainmentBlog.com or MVASS.com. Comments on any posts should be added to the appropriate comments section on the sites.

About Michael Vass and M V Consulting, Inc.

    Recaps and links for 2006 - 12.31.2006.1

As 2006 is quickly coming to a close I’ve taken a moment to think about what has been this year for Black Entertainment USA. There has been a lot said, on many different levels. I’ve tried to cover more the key thoughts, but some items stand out.

In this year I have discussed the death, shootings and arrests of several rappers. I’ve identified several television ads that seemed distasteful to me and I must say 2 have stood out. I’ve spoken about the major event in sports that have moved me, either through performance or controversy. I’ve acknowledged quality television programming (whether on broadcast or cable network television) and those that have brought it to us. I’ve reviewed books by quality authors, and restaurant.

I’ve shared the sadness of our losses of great entertainers and celebrities. I’ve defined my outrage and congradulations to those I feel deserved it. And I’ve imported thoughts I felt were vital to share from my other blog [though such thoughts had little to do with entertainment, and everything to do with being a Black American, Latino/Hispanic American and just an American]. And yes I’ve even done a bit of shameless self-promotion and advertising.

Rather than discuss all these items again, or qualify why I’ve held the position I took, I will just list the links here. I will arrange them by date and invite you to see what I thought in case you missed them.

I feel I have made an impact. I have reached tens of thousands this year. Hopefully I will reach hundreds of thousands in 2007. With your readership and support I’m sure I will.

    Entertainers - Fatherhood vs. Image

Tomorrow is the day in which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be remembered. While that is an important thing, I noticed something else today. It has been reported that rap artist Juvenile was arrested related to child support. Of the many things entertainers do this is one that ranks at the top of the list in annoying me. There is nothing that riles me up like a father who abandon’s children and fails to live up to their obligation created by their actions.

Now let me clear a few things up. I do not want to pick on rappers, though they may be more high-profile in this matter, as I will discuss later. Entertainers and celebrities such as Damon Dash, Ice-T, Latrell Sprewell, Zab Judah, David Oakley and others fall into this category. Questions of paternity have fallen on Stephen Bing, and Mr. Bill Cosby among far to many others. While some have lived up to their obligations, others have not. Some, like Wil Smith, have children from previous relationships/marriages and are active in the lives of their children. To the fathers that are doing the right thing I think more needs to be said in acknowledgement. But I wouldn’t mind stoning those that aren’t.

I also don’t agree with some of the things that are done against some of the celebrity entertainer fathers, or fathers in general. While Puff Daddy, does and should pay for the well-being of his child, I can’t say that $35,000 a month or more is needed to raise a child. We are talking about monies that equal or exceed some of the real median household incomes of many Americans. I don’t know about others, but my friends and I grew up where the total annual family income may or may not have equaled the figure given to one child a month. Children deserve a good life, and when it can be afforded it should be given. A court should not be required to remind a father of what his obligations are. Given that, mothers should not seek to supplement their livelihoods based on the wealth of the child’s father.

But there is a bigger issue here, and this is why its on my Black Entertainment USA blog as opposed to my Vass blog. The issue is what does the existence of these high-profile cases do to our children? As we remember Dr. King, what can we say that has happened since the late 60's? Black African Americans, along with Hispanics and other minorities, have gotten a chance to live the American dream. Many have prospered and lead lives their grandparents could never have imagined. But as time has passed there has been an erosion that has occurred as well.

Two thirds of all black marriages end in divorce, and 2 of 3 black children will experience the dissolution of their parents' marriage by the time they reach age 16. In 1970, 68% of black families had both the husband and wife present. This number dropped to just 50% in 1990, a decrease of 18 percentage points over 20 years, compared with a 6-percentage-point decrease over the same time period for white families. When looking at this data, take a moment to also consider this fact. In a growing proportion as you go from 1970 to today, the amount of entertainers and entertainment that is targeted at the youth is oriented on little more than sex. That is not so say that Mr. Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, or Prince were not suggestive or risque. It is to say that O.P.P.[for those that don’t recall it stands for Other Peoples - the last one you can imagine for yourself, but that was the group’s name and lead song as I recall], 2 Live Crew, Sisko, Khia and a growing number are far more than suggestive or risque. Not only has the music that Black African American, Hispanic and other youth listen to become outrightly descriptive and declaratory on the issue of sex (particularly sex without marriage, attachments, responsibility, or respect); with the creation of music videos there has been a race to promote misogyny, and a lack of moral values.

I can’t say that all music videos are without charm, wit or attraction. I won’t deny that occasionally [I rarely watch television] I watch music videos of rappers and others and enjoy the titillation. Of course I am 38. Music videos of this nature were never available when I was in my mid-teens and few in my early 20's (though they never reached the type of actions/displays seen regularly today). Based on the proliferation of this entertainment, are we surprised that there are so many that decry the death of the Black African American family? How shocked can we be when the youth abandon children and applaud their status as a “baby mama,” or “baby daddy?”

Emulation of celebrities and entertainers is not a new thing. Whether it was the desire to be a home run hitter like Babe Ruth and Mr. Reggie Jackson, dunking baskets like Mr. Michael Jordan and Mr. Kareem adul Jabbar, or a star like Mr. Denzel Washington, Mr. Laurence Fishburne, or Mr. Sidney Poitier. It’s the American culture to desire to be the famous celebrity in the spotlight. It’s personal morality to put out a product that you can be proud of and reflects the ethics you hold. It’s an obligation to be responsible for your actions and the reasonable consequences from what you do, especially as an entertainer (Black African American, Hispanic or otherwise). If you can’t live by that, or worse yet actively chose not to, perhaps a rock to the head will help.

This is what I think, what do you think.
