Speaking of prostitution...

While the focus of New York, and perhaps the nation, is turned towards former-Governor Eliot Spitzer there is some other news on a famous (or infamous) john. Lesser know for his strong political views, Danny Bonaduce, had some news of his own today.

Now there is no question that Bonaduce is less than perfect. In fact he is a prime example of how child stars can go very wrong in their lives. A fact that he has always been one of the first to admit. But in recent years he has made strong efforts to improve his life, getting clean and sober, and avoiding the pitfalls his fame allowed him to fall into often.

But while scandal is no stranger to Bonaduce, his most recent claim to fame is not really his fault in my opinion. You may not recall the event I’m speaking of, since it occurred on the ‘reality’ cable television network. So for those of you unfamiliar here is the video.



Because of this event, Bonaduce is currently being sued. Now I don’t think there is a case here. The guy at the mike called a somewhat inebriated (apparently) Danny Bonaduce over as he was going to leave, jumped on him, and started to gyrate on him. Were I in the same situation I’d have done the same thing.

No malice was intended, no plan that I could see. The outcome could not be predicted. And the guy started the problem by legally assaulting Bonaduce. Why is there a lawsuit? Why is Superior Court Judge Michael C. Solner even bothering with this?

Unlike some politicians, Danny Bonaduce has never denied the ill-formed ideas he has had. He has suffered the consequences of these actions, personally and professionally. He is without question an example of what not to do in Hollywood.

But if there is a choice between Bonaduce and Eliot Spitzer for who deserves to be punished by law, I think there should be no question. Yet there is a good chance that Spitzer may walk away from this current scandal and crimes without serious penalty. Or so the pundits are stating the rumors have said.

Sometimes things just don’t make sense to me.

Beware Hanoi Jane Fonda - 4.19.2007.1

Well the summer season of movies is nearly upon us and there is good news and bad news. Let me deal with the bad news first. I’m sad to say, and frustrated as well, that Hanoi Jane Fonda has another movie coming out shortly. It is my absolute desire that no one ever go to this movie, Georgia Rules.

Due to open May 11th, the film co-stars Mrs. Felicity Huffman, Ms. Lindsey Lohan, Mr. Dermot Mulroney as well as the despicable Hanoi Jane. I have nothing against any of the other actors, in fact I think Mr. Mulroney and Mrs. Huffman are quite good. I have a lot against Hanoi Jane. I don’t know her personally and hope to never meet her. I will not watch anything she is in, and hope every endeavor she takes part in fails. While I would not wish ill to any person, this is one that gives such a thought pause.

I have mentioned before that I dislike this woman. I feel she is a traitor and has the worst interests of the nation in her heart, whether she acknowledges it or not. Let me be clear, I don’t mind leftist political views or the people that have them. I don’t agree, but I respect that they have these views. It helps to keep the nation balanced, and ideally creates an atmosphere where the best for the nation is possible. Even the extreme left, as whacky as they can be (and yes I realize the extreme right can be just as whacky). I draw the line at traitors.

I think I summed up my thoughts best here,

Protest all you want, but aiding the enemy of our nation and our troops is treason. I have no respect for the woman. Her (what I feel are) false and half-hearted apologies do not sway me. Some 30+ years later she has admitted remorse. Am I stupid? That is a political and economic response, timed perfectly to match a book and a movie release. I do not forget, nor will I forgive her. She had decades to apologize, or explain her thoughts. She was a grown woman, aware of her actions and their impact when she made them in the 70’s. Her hope, I feel, that the youth of the nation would not remember and thus forgive does not work with me. I am repulsed by violence against women, but I would pay to have a woman give Jane ‘Hanoi’ Fonda a beat down. I feel that strongly about her actions.”

So again I state, when Georgia Rules comes out go see anything else.

As for other news which is good, the upcoming movie by Mr. Nicholas Cage seems interesting. It’s been an interesting year so far for him. The Ghost Rider film has made 153 million so far, had decent reviews, and was another hit for Marvel. This movie, NEXT, looks to do similarly well.

The storyline appears direct enough. A man can see all probabilities he is involved with before they happen, a limited amount of time into the future. This has caused him a great deal of difficulty in his early years and he avoids situations that could draw attention to him. But there is a terrorist plot that causes the government to seek him out and so goes the story. There is a lot that can be done with this storyline and the effects look decent. I just they paid attention to the plot along with the special effects. There is one point I don’t understand and needs to be explained well, how do they catch someone that will see everything they might do to catch him? The only other possible problem the movie might have is a lame ending where after a lifetime of having this ability it suddenly goes away and Mr. Cage’s character can finally be as oblivious as the rest of us about the future. That would be lame and weak.

Hanoi Fonda back to old tricks - 1.30.2007.1

This is a post that deals with mostly one actress and politics. I have posted it on the entertainment blog due to that fact. I have let you know that it is political as opposed to most other posts. Also if you are a fan of Jane ‘Hanoi’ Fonda [I first commented on her in my post jul 26 2005], I’d advise you to skip this.

I just heard about the protest that occurred on Saturday. There were several celebrities there, including Mr. Tim Robbins, Mrs. Susan Sarandon (Mr. Robbins wife), Mr. Sean Penn, and someone I truly hate – Jane Fonda. Let me start off that I respect every person in the crowd that voiced their view on the war (except fonda). It’s a vital principle of American life that they can protest, and unlike other countries none of them were shot dead for it. The differing views are important to keep the balance of America and to attain the best for the nation.

I will mention that this is similar to the actions we saw during the Viet Nam war. Perhaps many of the youth today are too young to recall what happened. I was young when the protests were occurring myself. But I was old enough to see the result on my father, a Marine and veteran of Viet Nam. And that stuck with me for life.

I respect the actors that feel strongly enough about the actions of the government to risk their public images in protests. I respect the ordinary people that want the government to know that they disagree with the actions currently ongoing. But I think they are all wrong.

I do not feel they support the troops as their actions fail to match the definition of ‘support’. Anyone who disagrees with that should look up the definition of the word and explain to me how their actions fulfill that. That is my opinion, and it is no more or less worthwhile than theirs.

I do see this being the beginning of actions that will be similar to those of Viet Nam. Perhaps Democrats such as Senator Jim Webb had good memories of the return home, my father did not. And I will be extremely angry if anyone treats the young men and women returning from Iraq as they did my father. Some need to take a moment and recall that the only reason they can call names and not support the troops is because those same troops, and all those that have bled, sweat, and died before them, have made it possible.

As for Deborah at News Hounds, Mr. Bonaduce is not perfect. There is no question of his well documented past. But I demand you find one instance where he sided with declared enemies of our nation, especially when our Armed Forces were fighting and dying. Hanoi Jane did do that, it is a fact. She posed for the photos and supported the enemies of the nation as our sons and fathers died. She was not forced. Mr. Bonaduce never did anything even close to that. Showing the photos she voluntarily posed for or mentioning the actions she did is not slander or nasty, it’s factual. The age that Mr. Bonaduce saw the photo has nothing to do with its impact. I was young as well and the repercussions made an impact on my family. Trauma is not restricted to an age group. Also the definition of treason during a time of war is what Hanoi Jane did, and should have been tried for. The punishment at the time was death, to remind those too young to remember this is not a false accusation. If it wasn’t true I’m sure some lawyer would be suing now. As for quoting 30,000 – that is tens of thousands, 3 x ten thousand to be exact – thus the estimate sounds accurate to the math I was taught.

Lastly, yes we all have made mistakes. Waiting 30 years to admit it is not a show of remorse to me. Consciously siding against your nation is not a mistake, no matter the time it takes to admit what was already documented in photos and other media. To remind people of the facts, and to express an opinion is not cowardly, nor a bully tactic. It’s little different than going to a war protest. If you can’t accept that, that is unforgivable.
