I believe a person's character can be found in their answer to this question: If you could go back in time to the begining of Civilization with 3 books, which 3 would you choose?

A touch of classical

I have always been a fan of classical music. Perhaps its because of That's Opera Doc, or maybe it's the various types of music that my family listened to as I grew up. I'm not sure. But I do enjoy it.

Of course many younger, and more than a few older, readers may not be familiar with classical music. I've heard the misstatments that classical music is boring, or without feeling. I suppose to those more in tune with instant everything this might be true.

So in an effort to introduce classical music to some who might never otherwise hear it I present some youtube videos that combine classical music with other forms of entertainment that might better appeal to the music video generations (and provide a few laughs for those older). Who knows, 35 years from now you might be doing something similar for the next generation.

Halo

Ok, not quite classical, but cool - Star Wars

Bleach - ok, its the techno version, but I love that version - Warning, video can cause seisures

Apocalypse Now

Star Trek (revision)

Muppets

Eric Prydz

Well I think that did it.

I think my point is made. Classical music isn't some ancient thing to be avoided. Like all music it can be what you make of it and take from it.

A trip from Kanye to Naruto with Beethoven and the Matrix

Ah sometimes I take strange trips when I follow a thought. Case in point, I was on Youtube and happened to find a mash-up of Beethoven and Kanye West. I have no great like of Kanye but it was the infusion of classical that made me watch it.

That lead me to wonder what other classical mixes might be out there. Were their others that found classical as great as I do, and see the ease and multiple formats that classical could be mixed with more modern music. Was there a bridge of the too forms of music?

So I found this video.

and I went from there to

Which lead me to

and then I ran into something really different and amusing. Mixing my love of classical music, anime, The Matrix and Naruto.

It's an odd journey, but I must say I was pleased by it. How about you?
