Ft. Hood - Maj. Hasan: 12 dead, 31 injured, no answers yet

I know that some of my readers may be wondering why I have not covered the news of the Ft. Hood shooting before now on VASS or Black Entertainment USA. The only reason I can give is that I was confused.

For hours there has been swirling reports, rumours, and imprecise information. Even at this late hour information is just being learned. So I will mention what is clear at this time.

There appears to be a single shooter. Early reports of multiple shooters seem to be incorrect. The main suspect is a Major Hasan, an American who has served in the military for 20 years. It is unclear exactly what role Maj. Hasan had, though he was a psychiatrist and may have been called to serve in Iraq/Afghanistan.

Maj. Hasan is believed to have killed 12 people, and wounded 31 others, mostly military personnel. Early reports of his suicide and/or death via shots from police are also incorrect. Additionally, a police officer initially believed to have been killed while shooting Maj. Hasan is in fact alive and out of surgery.

At this time no other names have been officially released, though Ft. Hood is no longer under lockdown.

Those are all facts, as is best understood at this time. But in no way do they answer the many questions that have plagued me and so many others all day.

I cannot fathom why an officer, especially of high rank, would strike out in such a manner. There is nothing that makes sense about this.

I have heard the rumours that Maj. Hasan was a sleeper agent. I do not agree. In 20 years of service Hasan would have had ample opportunity to act out before this. In addition, religious radicals tend to seek situations with the potential for far greater bodycounts than this. Plus the fact that being a military officer Hasan had the chance to potentially acquire far greater firepower to inflict higher casualties if he was simply a religious nut.

I have heard Maj. Hasan was suffering from PTSD. Again I refute that. He, to the best knowledge available now, has never served in combat. His duties seem to have kept him stateside his entire career. As a psychologist he heard stories from those that actually suffer PTSD, but that is not the same. Of all those I have known that have suffered PTSD not one has ever suffered this because of something they heard others experience.

Lastly, the other major cause has been rumoured to be discrimination and harrassment. Which I think is absurd. First because as a Major the number of people even capable of doing this are very few, and the repercussions of them doing so is extreme. Second, while I know there is some discrimination/prejudice in the military I can say firsthand that such is not on the level to cause this kind of outburst. I can understand a fistfight due to such a cause, but not a mass murder. In addition, the level of discrimination some may experience today is no where near the levels from back in the 40's, 50's, 60's and so on. And even then, with a national bias in place, such actions as those of Maj. Hasan never occured.

Seperate of all this I have heard Maj. Hasan called a "good American". This was meant to prevent blanket accusations and hate filled actions against Muslims. Which I can understand, but 2 things need to be clear.

1) The insane and terrible acts of any individual are NOT representative of a group of similar people. All Whites are not represented by the KKK or neo-Nazis. All African Americans are NOT Snoop Dogg. All Asians are not the Virginia Tech killer. And so on.

No Muslim should ever be judged by the acts of some other person, or a fanatical group. And no responsible American should ever act against someone due to such a false and bigoted reason.

2) There is no way anyone can be described as a "good American" at the same time they are the key suspect in a mass murder. I also have a problem with such a label being applied to a soldier, who volunteered to join the military, served 20 years, and who then balks at being stationed in or near a war zone (if that is accurate). They joined the military, with full understanding of its purpose, and took an oath that leaves no questions. If there were any disputes with the responsibility that goes with such service, they could have resigned and or gone to jail as a concientious objector. The murder of innocents is never something to be confused with or even mentioned along with the words American or U.S. military.

I am glad that Maj. Hasan is still alive. That means the questions we all have can be answered. If in fact he did do this, and acted alone or with others, I look forward to his death by firing squad. If there are others involved I believe they deserve the same fate.

But the biggest thing that I have in my mind right now is my fear that this is the Columbine of the military. I fear that far too many, merely seeking a quick way to earn money for college might follow this twisted path. I hope that Maj. Hasan can be used as an example of why such actions should never be undertaken.

As more becomes clear I will speak about it further at VASS

Where Michael Vass has been

What have I been doing the last couple of days?

It's a question I have been asked by some readers to this blog. And it's a fair question as I have not been as active as I usually am. But I think my long-time readers will understand and appreciate what's been going on.

First of course is my continued work for various clients. I not only run this and my political blog - VASS, but I am also President of M V Consulting, Inc. As such I have been building, maintaining, and developing various websites for several clients. Add to that a bit of consulting about the web and the stock market and things have been hectic in the last week for blogging.

Though I am always open to adding more clients and/or advertisers. These blogs have to be paid for after all.

Then of course there has been a lot of stuff I want to cover for the 2010 mid-term elections. Which is why I have increased my posts at VASS. Like I did for the 2008 Presidential election, I am actively ahead of the curve on the mid-term elections. Currently I am focused on Majority Leadser Harry Reid, Senator Chuck Schumer, and Senator Kritsen Gillibrand - who are all up for re-election.

Add to this the fact that there are few new television shows for a while, and the notable lack in quality and quantity of new movies at this moment. Which leaves mostly tabloid entertainment news - which I do not cover.

Lastly there is the expansion of the gifts and products available for sale. As noted previously, M V Consulting has added the Alchemy line of products to the items we provide you our readers.

Winged Black Heart Phone Charm

Alchemy has been in business for decades, providing the best in English pewter pendants, smoking accessories, earrings, goblets, glassware, rings, and a host of other items. These products are shipped from England to you. They are of the highest quality, and I am happy to be available to provide them to you.

Already we have several pages of products (see the Alchemy at World of Vass link) and will be adding several more. This will allow you to have some essential items for Halloween, Christmas, birthday presents, or just as something for yourself. The line we have selected includes products for men and women alike.

Wyverex Refillable (petrol) Lighter

18th century French rococo style

So overall there is no shortage of things that I am working on. But do not hesitate to think that I will always keep abreast of what is going on in entertainment and making you my readers aware. Even with the economic downturn, my foremost goal is to maintain and grow my blogs. But adding advertisers, and increasing sales doesn't hurt either.

Thank you for your continued support of my blogs, the designer clothes at World of Vass, the Alchemy line of products, and of course the advertisers.

Sincerely

Michael Vass, President - M V Consulting, Inc.

Correction to statements made by Michael Vass

As many of you are aware, I write about political matters at my other blog VASS. Recently I have discussed the Health Care Reform - even sending out letters to Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand, Representative Hinchey, and President Obama to get answers. But at the same time I was challenged to prove a statement about President Obama's campaign promises.

I have now answered that challenge, and can state that I was wrong in my thoughts. You can find out exactly how I was wrong, and about what at I was wrong about President Obama.

For those of you that could care less about politics or health care, or even President Obama, I'm sorry for the interuption.

I would invite you to check out the great fashionable designer clothing lines at my online store World of VASS, see the models I have used in photo shoots with the clothing lines (nothing like seeing how good real people look in these fashion statements) at Fashion Models, click on one of my advertisers to the left, or just check out some of the other nearly 1500 posts here on this site.

A message from Michael Vass - President of M V Consulting, Inc.

I just wanted to take a moment to update all my readers on the things happening here at M V Consulting, Inc.

Like everyone, we have felt the impact of the economic crisis. As such we have had to delay some of the promotions, photo shoots, and clothing line launches we had planned for this year. I emphasize delay and not that we are canceling anything. We are moving forward, just at a slightly slower pace.

As such the 2 photo shoots planned to have been done by this point are pushed back to later this year. Though I can state that Todd Messinger (who took the latest photo shoot at Guys & Dolls pool hall in Endicott, NY) and Michael Rolston are slated to be the photographers of these upcoming shoots. We are still selecting several models for these photo shoots, so for those aspiring models or those already working, we are looking over head shots. You can contact us at info@vassconsult.com for more details.

Another item that was pushed back is a free promotion (give-away contest) we are working on. While I will not give out details yet, I can say that this will help those looking to start or expand a career. With the international exposure that M V Consulting can provide, we hope that someone will be able to say that their future fame and fortune was started via our company.

Something that we are not pushing back is our efforts to support the men and women of our military and the charities we donate to. Several efforts are upcoming, in conjunction with local VFW and American Legion posts, to help provide support and attention to the needs of those that have pledged to maintain the quality of life each of us enjoys everyday.

Additionally, I have confirmed with Mr. Gregg Cordero that the Memorial for Madden Cordero will be having its second annual fundraising for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. This will be in the 3rd quarter of this year, and M V Consulting will again be a contributor to this cause. We hope that those of you that wish to, will also join us in raising funds for the families that the Ronald McDonald Charities helps every day. More details on this will be forthcoming.

One thing that has been delayed far more than expected has been the re-launch of the VASS political blog. The sheer volume of material, and the technical time involved has turned out to be far more than what was initially expected. That combined with the economic slowdown, and the increased needs of our clients, has delayed the full re-launch.

Currently the VASS blog is up, and current posts relating to politics and other issues are being made. The revamped site is being updated on a regular basis with every post and comment that formerly was found at the blogger driven site. Until the re-launch is completed, the old site will remain available, and old posts will continue to be found there.

In a related matter, we are currently working on creating a detailed coverage of the entire 2008 election process. This will provide information on several of the candidates from the moment they announced their desire to run for President, up to the results of the election itself. In total this will cover about 2 years of the election cycle. We believe that this will be both a useful tool for new voters in the 2012 election cycle, as well as an interesting point of view for those that are more familiar with the political process.

Separate of these events, we want to thank all of our readers for your continued interest in M V Consulting, and our blogs. It is solely because of our readers that we continue to grow, now reaching over 125 countries and tens of thousands of readers each month. This is no small achievement, and we acknowledge that it is only possible via your support.

We also thank our readers for checking out the clothing lines of M V Consulting, as well as the ads of our advertisers. Neither is the primary focus of our site, nor will we allow it to become so, but it does help us to maintain and grow the Company. With your continued support and interest to the advertisers and our clothing lines we are ever more capable of providing more free give-aways, promotions, and donations to organizations like Not On Our Watch and the Ronald McDonald Charities.

For those that wish to advertise on the sites of M V Consulting, Inc. we refer you to our advertising rates, and ask you to present any inquiries to our info@vassconsult.com email. While we will never flood our sites with advertising, we are always willing to work with potential advertisers as long as space permits. And we are confident that our advertising rates are among the best in the industry for the reach and depth of the world that we touch.

Lastly, I want to note that in August – September M V Consulting will be doing a series of posts focusing on Las Vegas and the APA National Pool Tournament. We are working on providing video of the event, interviews with players, and insight about the tournament.

This is part of our continuing effort to provide entertainment interviews and coverage that is unique and interesting. So far this year we have been able to have several interviews with independent film directors – some were Sundance winners, others were featured at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. We are working on interviews with several writers, additional film directors, actors and actresses, a couple of politicians, and a few surprises.

In summation, we at M V Consulting are striving to live up to the confidence and commitment you give us every day that you return to our sites. It is something we never forget. It is the reason we work hard to maintain high quality in all that we present to you. It is the reason we never stop.

I personally thank you, and on behalf of all those at M V Consulting, Inc.

Sincerely,

Michael Vass

Repost: A photo worth seeing

This is a repost from my Vass political blog. The blog is still being remodeled, but is current.

Often I receive the chain emails that everyone is sure to get. I never look into these emails, or even open them due to the chance of a virus being attached. But every so often I get one of these emails from a friend that I trust, that they insist I open and look at.

This is one such letter, and I have to say I was laughing out loud.

The body of the letter will follow, and then the photo. Make sure you read it first then view the photo. I loved it.

Most Syrians struggle to even read Arabic, much less have a clue about reading English.

So, how does a group of Syrian protest leaders create the most impact with their signs by having the standard "Death To Americans" (etc.) slogans printed in English?

    Answer:
They simply hire an English-speaking civilian to translate and write their statements into English.

Unfortunately, in this case, they were unaware that the "civilian" insurance company employee hired for the job was a retired US Army Sergeant!

Obviously, pictures of this protest rally never made their way to Arab or American TV networks, but the results were PRICELESS!

    This picture is not doctored.

A anti-America protest photo worth seeing

Update from Michael Vass - President of M V Consulting, Inc.

Michael Vass modeling the Wanna Ride men's designer clothing t-shirt found at www.cafepress.com/nova68Well the first half of the year has been quite a ride so far. With the economy in the faltering status that it is life has become a bit harder for us all - if not massively so. But I continue to strive forward.

So far the VASS political blog has been completely revamped. It has undergone a complete change, now using Wordpress a clean theme and a few add-ons like a rating system for each post (found at the bottom of each post).

While it is not completely finished, each and every post and comment is being hand transfered from the old site to this new one (both are active now). I expect to announce the re-launch shortly. And new posts are already being placed on the site now (the most recent is the latest on the hearing for trial of Johannes Mehserle - who killed Oscar Grant).

In addition to revamping my political blog, there has been the photo shoot at Guys and Dolls in Endicott NY. The shoot highlighted virtually every designer clothing line found at World of Vass. You can see the models and the various lines by clicking on the links at the top of the site, and clicking the images will take you to that clothing line for purchase.

We have also added a new line of designer clothing - Wanna Score. At this moment there is just the women's fashion line, with designs for Black, White, and Hispanic women. We will be adding a complete men's fashion line of this design within days (also for Black, Hispanic, and White men). I invite you to look it over, and buy a few too.

Of course I also direct you to our advertising. We are always looking for the best, most interesting, and highest quality advertisers for our blogs. In this market, its tough. But we have one of the best entertainment blogs in the world - focusing on people of color - not to mention the recognized political blog as well. Our ad rates are superior to many, but we always will be (limited in advertising space and) selective because you our readers are as well. So check out our advertisers from time to time, I believe in their products and services, so you can too.

Another change that will be taking effect shortly is an expansion to the writing staff here and at our other blogs. In the coming months we expect to add another 3 or so writers, covering a miriad of topics. I of course will continue to write, and at the same pace as always. But it's a big world, and there are far too many things we want to bring to you our readers.

For those interested in joining the new staff of writers for Black Entertainment USA or Vass the political blog, contact me at info@vassconsult.com - subject writing staff.

For those that are interested in becoming a model for upcoming calendar, t-shirt, and other photo shoots (with noted photographers like Michael Rolston and Todd Messinger) contact me at info@vassconsult.com - subject model photo shoot.

The economy is difficult, the clients of M V Consulting, Inc. are numerous as always, and I believe in expanding no matter the climate. We will not falter as long as you, our valued readers, continue to give us your time and attention.

Always let us know what you think of the changes and inspiration we have. Feel free to comment on the posts, we value the input. We are here to provide the best service we can. Your feedback and support will ensure we do just that.

Thank you, I look forward to your continued readership.

AIG bonuses, and the change in the American Way

**This is a post that normally would appear at VASS, my political blog. At this moment VASS is undergoing site renovation and technical issues, so it appears here. This change is temporary.**

Executive pay and bonuses. Everyone is screaming about the $165 million in bonuses that AIG executives were paid. Congress went so far as to break the law to take back the bonuses paid. All of this to avoid noting that about $20 billion dollars of the over $100 billion given to AIG so far, went to overseas banks and companies.

Polispeak is one thing, but this should be an outrage.

Senator Chris Dodd knew that AIG was going to pay bonuses. He in fact made a provision just so they could do so. Treasury Secretary Geithner knew of this, in fact he knew back when he was still working in the Fed. So all the surprise they are feigning is obviously for a different reason.

The public is being distracted from the real problems. That our money went to foreign countries as opposed to helping our own. And it is advancing the ability of the Liberal Democrats to control exactly how much an American citizen makes.

$165 million in bonuses sounds like a lot. And to the average person it is. But then again this was a contractual agreement made by AIG long before the bailouts. Basically, as long as the company has money it must pay the bonus. Every member of Congress and the Obama Administration knew that. President Obama as a former lawyer had to know it as well (they do teach contract law in law school).

So the outrage is misplaced. Especially when key Democrats were involved in ensuring that the contracts were lived up to. So why all the hype?

Because $20 billion dollars is really a big number and an enormous waste. That’s money that could have saved tens of thousands of U.S. jobs (literally), gone from the nation. That is factually the retirements and college tuition of millions of Americans wiped away for years, maybe decades, to come. All because the Democrats were in a rush to pass legislation without the public, or most of Congress, seeing what the legislation entailed. [You do recall the promise of President Obama to have full transparency and allow the public to review legislation 2 days before it is passed into law – which he has violated several times now]

Because in feigning outrage at actions done willfully, they look like they are concerned. Because it looks like someone is trying to do their job. Because the legal battle that will ensue will have more public passion behind it rather than what it really means.

The fact that Congress has passed a tax on the AIG bonuses now means that ANY company and ANY employee or owner can be taxed if the Government decides they want their money. Besides being a retro-active act, which is expressly forbidden (that’s why there are grand-father laws), it is a means in which we move from a capitalist society to a socialist one.

Win a lottery, and the Democrat-led Congress will pass a law saying that you must be taxed even more than you already would be, because the Government can use the money better than you. Build a business, and the Government will put a new tax out so that you can’t gain the reward of your hard work and risk. Because the Government wants to pay for spending on special interest initiatives. Work for a company in a good job, and have a tax to take away the money you worked hard for all year, just because they can.

Yes it sounds wonderful that people will get things from the Government. That is what they want you to have, not necessarily what you need and definitely not what you want. Because the Liberal Democrats know what is fair - for you.

This is a horrendous step by the Government. Yes the idea of paying AIG executives for failure is distasteful. But not so distasteful as removing the ability of contracts to exist. Not when compared to the end of American life as we know it and have enjoyed it.

These kinds of acts are things that socialist nations like Venezuela, China, and the C.I.S. (former Soviet Union) take. People have fled those nations to come to America because we don’t treat people in such a manner. Or we didn’t until now.

People have complained to me about how they thought President Bush destroyed the law of the land. Yet there is not one thing that has been proven to have affected the American people. Lots of allegations, but not a single fact. And the average person lived as free as a decade ago.

Now we have a Democrat-led Government that is actively breaking the laws that built this nation. We are watching as the structure of the nation is being manipulated. And I hear no outcry about this.

Dark days are ahead of us, if this is the path we are being led down. Do we need to shout? Oh, yes. But it’s not the AIG contracts that upset me. It’s Congress and the Obama Administration.

An update from Michael Vass - President of M V Consulting, Inc.

Hello everyone.

Michael Vass - President of M V Consulting, Inc.I just wanted to take a moment to discuss what is currently going on with M V Consulting, Inc. these days. As many of my long-time readers are aware, we are constantly trying new ideas and working behind the HTML to provide the best expereince possible to our visitors. While the current economic crisis has made several things more difficult, we have not stopped in that movement forward.

In particular, some may have noticed that there have not been updates at the VASS political blog in a while. That is not because I have have stopped writting on the subject. In fact I have been discussing various aspects of the economy, stock market, Obama Administration, stimulus package and more.

There has been a technical difficulty on that blog, and as such we are in the process of moving it. The web address will remain http://www.mvass..com, but you will soon see that the platform is very different. We will be using the popular Wordpress platform, and with that change will come a new look for the site. I ask that you bear with us and check back for an update on the status of that redesign.

Those that have visited our online store will note that there have been several new clothing designs since the new year started. A couple of those clothing designs are to address the on-going trend (as I see it) of police murders and abuse of power. This may be most notable in the deaths of Oscar Grant, Sean Bell, Adoplh Grimes, and many others.

Stop the Game and Never Again clothing lines found at http://www.cafepress.com/nova68

But in addition to those t-shirts, there are also several other designs from my latest graphic designer Heidi Baker. That includes the Wanna Ride (male and female versions), Respect My Mind, Fluffy and Loveable and other designs. And more designs are coming soon. Also, new versions of some of the older designs will be forth coming to include Asian consumers. As always, our goal is to be inclusive, not exclusive.

Another related item that is capturing a bit of my time is an upcoming photo shoot near the end of this month. We have several models in place to highlight multiple t-shirts, sweatshirts, and other designer goods found in our online store. We are planning to add several more calendars (male and female) and model foucused items in the near future as well.

Any models that are interested in the details can contact us at info@vassconsult.com to learn more.

Normally around this time of year I like to ask my visitors to help me contribute to a various charity. Given the nature of the economy I will not ask readers this year. Instead I will be making one or more donations, on or about my birthday, which I will post as usual.

You can also look forward to interviews with Dennis Dortch (director of A Good Day to Be Black and Sexy) and Tim Alexander (director of Diary of a Tired Black Man). Currently both interviews are being transcribed, and once done will be posted. But I recommend both movies, which are now out on DVD.

There is also a review of the book Picking Cotton, the real-life story of Ronald Cotton who was wrongly imprisoned for a crime he did not commit and Jennifer Thompson-Cannino who wrongly identified him for the crime. I will be posting my thoughts on the issue and the book shortly.

But obviously the economic environment has affected M V Consulting, like it has everyone else. So there has been a lot more work going on for our clients. This has reduced the time we have to write our posts. Thus we have slowed from 5 - 7 posts a day, to 2 - 5. We will always strive to provide our content on a regular basis, but far more important is that we will always only provide quality.

I would rather we say less, if it means more.

And of course we are continuing to seek out advertisers that wish to provide quality products to the tens of thousands of visitors in all the 125+ nations that visit our sites each month. Potential advertisers can see out rates, and/or contact us at info@vassconsult.com for more details. But never fear as we will limit the number of ads to prevent clutter as much as possible.

In all we are moving forward. The economic crisis is daunting, but we are secure and well positioned.

Lastly, I want to thank you for your time and continued support. Whether its a purchase from our online store, checking out one of our advertiser's sites, commenting on or just reading our posts, it is your involvement that has made this site so popular. That is why we at M V Consulting, Inc. are so dedicated to provide you the best experience we can.

Sincerely

Michael Vass

M V Consulting, Inc. Announces Milestone at Black Entertainment USA

New York (PRWEB) December 2, 2008 -- M V Consulting, Inc. announced today the achievement of a major milestone breakthrough within its Black Entertainment USA blog (BEB). The BEB blog, which is focused on entertainment news, sports, movie previews and reviews, television shows, and race relations issues in the media has been in existence for 3 years. In that time it has grown to be in the top .1% of blogs (out of the estimated 100 million+ in the world) with visitors from 125 nations every month.

Black Entertainment USA has now published its 1000th post. This milestone places the entertainment blog alongside some of the largest blogs, many national newspapers, and beyond most magazines in terms of publication rates. In 3 years the blog has gone from an unknown to maintaining readership that exceeds many mid-sized city periodicals.

In achieving 1000 posts, BEB has solidified its position as a leading internet destination for entertainment news commentary. Visitors read about all aspects of entertainment and interact with commentary as only the blogosphere allows. Hundreds have shared their thoughts, confirming the stature of the blog.

Michael Vass, President of M V Consulting, Inc., stated,

"Having crossed the 1000th post threshold at Black Entertainment USA, and nearly clearing 2000 posts when you include our political blog, I must admit my pleasure. The most important thing though has been the input and readership of tens of thousands of visitors each month." Mr. Vass went on to say, "From across the globe, representing every walk of life and growing each month, the visitors to the blogs of the Company make it all worthwhile. And now advertisers are recognizing these achievements. It's a great feeling."

In addition to this major milestone there are several milestones in the other divisions at M V Consulting's sites. These include:

    1. Over 600 posts at the political orientated blog - VASS
    2. The selection of VASS as 1 of 2 blogs that covered the entire Presidential election cycle for TV One's online website
    3. Exponential growth in key demographics of visitors such as 19 - 49 year olds, African Americans and Hispanics/Latinos, the college and post-college educated, and those earning $30,000 - $100,000 and above
    4. The continued expansion of the clothing lines featured at the Company's online store
    5. Increased visitors to the Company's online store
    6. Success in gaining initial advertisers
    7. Donations to charitable organizations and events growth
    8. The purchase of new office spaces for the Company

Another milestone that has been achieved is the recognition of M V Consulting, Inc. President and primary author Michael Vass in the blogosphere. Mr. Vass has grown from obscurity to writing for the Company's blogs to currently being the primary and/or contributing author at over 100 blogs besides those of the Company.

Additional growth of the Company will be detailed in the annual announcement.

Presidential videos of importance before you vote

Senator Obama is quite the politician. Only a great orator could face the comments of his friends and colleagues and others, as they dissent his stated opinions, and still look good. You couldn’t make this fly in Hollywood even if you had great writers.

which leads me to this

You get one vote tomorrow. Be informed about who you choose. www.mvass.com

Nelson Mandela is 90, and America still doesn't care

Excerpt from VASS

Back in the far reaches of time there was a prisoner that no one knew. Well at least in America. Back in 1962 a Black man was thrown in a jail (with the help of the CIA) because he wanted freedom. He wanted a say in his government, he wanted to be equal to those around him. He wanted an end to the poverty that was focused on ever other Black in the nation. He was a visionary, and that vision was enough to have him locked up for 27 years....

Throughout the 1980’s and afterwards America woke up to the fact that a modern day slavery existed in the world. It was something the nation stood up and rejected, though not without resistance in some parts. But eventually the nation refused to do business with South Africa, hitting them in their pockets hard. We protested and held rallies. We politically turned up the heat internationally. And in 1990, Nelson Mandela saw the light of day as a free man. In 1994 he became the leader of his nation and abolished all vestiges of Apartheid. He led his nation to democratic rule, and improve the lives of millions of Africans in the process....

And I have to wonder. America woke up to Africa in 1980. For a brief moment the nation paid attention to a land filled with Black people, and the injustice being wrought by the Whites in power their. And then we walked away...

“America has become a policeman of the world in my lifetime. We have entered multiple nations as a peacekeeping force and in wars. Yet, for some reason America has turned its back while the equivalent of Orlando, Florida (or possibly Cleveland, Ohio – the exact number is unknown) have been killed since 2003. Let me make this clear, that’s between 200,000 to 400,000 men women and children that have been killed and counting.”
...

Nelson Mandela is a great man. He has lead a life worthy of notice and remembrance. At 90 he continues to call out to the world to do the right thing. And America has gone back to the deaf ear it had the day the jail cell doors closed on Mr. Mandela....

Advertising With M V Consulting, Inc.

As the various blogs and sites of M V Consulting, Inc. have grown opportunities for advertising have increased as well. This of course matches the growth of the blogs and general internet use. Back in 2005, when Black Entertainment USA was created, roughly 60% of homes had at least 1 computer and 5% of internet users visited a blog regularly. Today while first time computer purchases are relatively flat visitors to blogs have grown to approximately 15%, up 300%.

Black Entertainment USA (BEB) in 2005 started like a tree falling in the woods. Gaining a mere handful of visitors and author Michael Vass unknown to search engines. Such is the start of most businesses.

But the growth in blog visitors and corporation ownership, like Microsoft, is nothing compared to M V Consulting’s sites. BEB is now seen in over 115 countries every month with enough visitors to fill a mid-sized city. Today BEB is ranked among the top 86,000 out of over 55,000,000 blogs in the whole world. This growth, which continues even now, cannot be marked in hundreds of percentage but tens of thousands of percent!

The junior blog of M V Consulting, VASS, has had similar growth and perhaps more targeted attention. While not as old as BEB, this blog is extremely popular in North America and other English speaking nations. Focused on social issues, politics, and the U.S. Presidential election this blog has been highly recognized. VASS is one of 2 blogs featured by TV One (a cable network with over 40 million subscribers) at its online website for the Presidential election coverage.

And Author Michael Vass, once an unknown voice, is now a highly searchable and respected blogger covering a wide spectrum of topics of interest. Mr. Vass can now be found via the Google engine (in web and image searches), Yahoo, MSN, frequently on the African American Opinion, African American Political Opinion, B.I.G. Magazine online as a guest writer, and over 22 blogs of the 1800blogger family of blogs – all in addition to his writing at the M V Consulting blogs.

The net result is that the sites of M V Consulting are a perfect format for any company that seeks to reach American or international attention and internet visitors. Companies of all sizes advertising to African Americans, Whites, Men and/or Women, the college educated, singles and married internet users between the ages of 18 – 55 will find that the M V Consulting websites matches or exceeds (by as much as 250%) the internet averages for each target consumer group.

To learn more about the advertising rates and ad restrictions (ie. no pornography, no sites linking to pornography, no redirected links, ect.) please see the Ad Rates.

  • M V Consulting, Inc. reserves the right to deny any ad it deems objectionable, inflammatory, or pornographic.

  • The sites of M V Consulting. Inc. will never list more than 10 client ads maximum (including banners on top or bottom of a page) on any site – with the number being based on limiting distraction to readers and visitors as determined by M V Consulting itself.

Reflecting on V for Vendetta and American politics

So I was sitting home responding to comments on the VASS blog site, when I ran into a comment to my post thanking the Marines, the Armed Forces, and veterans for all they have done for this nation. The comment was an attempt to mock my heartfelt thanks. My reply was direct and obviously in direct opposition. Then I watched V for Vendetta.

It seems a bit ironic that I would watch a movie about how wrong a Government can go immediately after defending a Government that some feel has gone wrong. But there is the issue. Of late there have been a horde of movies demanding that America realize that utter chaos is ruling the nation. According to some there are no freedoms left. Such was the comment made at the abovementioned post. Such is the fare of movies.

Yet the reality is far from this. In V for Vendetta we see a government that has used its own people for biological experimentation. A scary thought for a movie. Except when you consider that America has already done this. They were called the Tuskegee Experiments. And America did not fall.

In the movie similarities are drawn to the Nazi’s, and fanatical Islamist governments that persecute the unwanted parts of their societies. Not unlike the way America had legal lynchings until 1922 (after 7 years of trying to pass the law) and Jim Crow to replace slavery. And America has not fallen.

In the movie the media is used to manipulate how people think. Unlike the direct commentary in the silver screen; reality only has pictures in newspapers (like the photo in post-Katrina New Orleans showing a Black man with a bag in flood waters called a looter, but a White man with a similar bag in waters equally as high is called a survivor looking for food), or news programs that attack the death of an athlete (Sean Taylor – his murder was a discussion of his actions as a teen) versus the months-long sorrow for drug addicts (Heath Ledger, Anna Nicole Smith, Britney Spears – oops she’s still alive right? Well you get the point). And yet America lives on.

For all the fears and horrors that movies imply, state, or hint at America remains the greatest nation in the world. Year after year, for centuries we have seen people across the globe come to this nation by any means they can. The fact America has issues with people of color is not only known, it’s advertised in every medium we have – and still they come. And all the detractors stay.

    Why?

Because we aren’t losing all our freedoms. That even if we had half the freedoms that exist now we still would be the freest nation in the world. That we have the greatest ability to allow virtually anyone, or their kids, to have a better life. Because we are more than rich in wealth, we are rich in freedom which has no price tag.

Now this is not to say there aren’t problems in bundles. I do not hide from the issues that need to be dealt with, nor do I accept the word of the Government as Gospel. There are reasons why some think that the Government killed its own people on 9/11 (and this is not about V for Vendetta), or that drugs and AIDS were shoved into the poorer, more racially diverse parts of cities across the country. But at the same time, the people still have power to change how the Government acts.

Fear, some say, it the motivation of the day. But I also see the other side. The fear being feed like a crack dealer via the major media stating not that a terrorist is under your bed, but that the Government is out of control.

We cannot allow ourselves to be blinded by fear – of fanatical religious groups that believe sex with children is ok (Texas), that killing abortionist is ok (Christian), that women have no rights or that suicide bombs make sense (Islam). All those fears are real, existing in this country and outside of it, but they cannot destroy us unless we allow them. In the same manner we cannot be drugged with the opiate of the masses (television, movies, the internet) when some choose to use it to tell us to fear the very thing we control.

If a movie like V for Vendetta tells us anything it is not that we have lost everything. We haven’t even though we have done everything that they fear we might. But if we get lulled by this fear we will be no better off, in fact worse off, than the reality that surrounds us.

I love my country. That why I vote, and promote others to do so. It’s why I cover the Presidential race. It’s why I point out the schism in the media. It’s why I defend what I think is right, and address what is wrong. And it’s why we cannot blindly fight against one fear to just accept another.

I want to leave you with a quote from that movie, apply it as you will

“What we need right now is a clear message to the people of this country. This message must be read in every newspaper, heard on every radio, seen on every television. This message must resound throughout the entire Interlink! I want this country to realize we stand on the edge of oblivion. I want every man woman and child to understand how close we are to chaos. I WANT EVERYONE, TO REMEMBER WHY THEY NEED US!”

What Black Men Think: Youtube videos - 3.1.2008.1

A friend of mine made me aware of a video that I think deserves to get far more attention. You can find it on YouTube under the title "What Black Men Think PSA".

Several of these ideas and issues I have covered here and at VASS. But some things can never be said enough. Especially with the major media making a point of portraying every negative they can, as often as they can.

But don't stop with this video or my blog. Seek out the information for yourself. Learn and revel in the fact that we are all more than the music videos present. We are not limited to just being entertainers and athletes.

And then there is this video for those of you that like spoken word and probably hip-hop. In checking out the above video I found the following. What it says about gangsta rap is near and dear to me.

I warn you all that it contains profanity, the N-word (which I still hate, but if it is the means to convey it's true meaning I will acquiesce), and fully concieved thoughts. But I expect all my readers can handle that.

Quick message from Michael Vass - 2.6.2008.1

I'm a little behind on the latest news here, particularly the way that the media has been treating recent events like the Sean Bell trial, coverage of the Wesley Snipes victory, comments by Snoop Dogg and 50 cent about their Presidential candidate picks and a few other items. Please bear with me.

The win by the Giants, which was sweet and should have been expected since historically Giants always have a good defense, resulted in a bit of a hangover that I'm sure many fans shared.

Add to that the launch of my I Love America That's Why I Vote! campaign, which you can find out more about by clicking the hyperlink above or visiting VASS and it was a busy start to the week.

Then all the activity from Super Tuesday (results of which, and my thoughts, can be seen at the aforementioned VASS) and you can imagine the backlog.

But never fear, I'm working hard and for your continued readership. In the meantime, if you would like to join the support for the That's Why I Vote! let me know, or visit my online store and see the dedicated clothing line showing your pride and Constitutional Right to vote, and/or you can make a donation to help me continue my efforts.

No matter what, thank you for visiting the site.

    Vote! Your voice matters!

    M V Consulting, Inc. reports growth in 2007 - 1.9.2008.1

New York (PRWEB) January 9, 2008 -- M V Consulting, Inc. announced today that the final numbers for the entire year of 2007 have been tabulated with phenomenal results. The Company's websites have grown at a remarkable pace, exceeding expectations and indicative of positive acceptance by internet users. In addition the Company's sites were involved with several promotions and events that could not be anticipated, and display the impact that has been made to date.

"2007 was a great year. The blogs of the company grew by over 100% in virtually every metric that can be identified. The give away contests sponsored by the company were well received, if predominantly regional. We were surprised and pleased to receive the opportunity to work with TV One on live coverage of the Heartland Presidential Forum on December 1st 2007. That's something you just can't predict and we are thrilled about it, while looking forward to working with TV One again in the future," stated M V Consulting, Inc. President Michael Vass.

Actual performance numbers are considered proprietary by the Company, but percentile growth and other metrics are available for the public. Some of the most important metrics are:

    • Visitors to the site tend to be 41% men, and 59% women

    • 46% of visitors tend to be between the ages of 25 - 54

    • 51% of visitors are college educated, with 37% having no college education at all

    • Visitors to Black Entertainment USA for the 12 months ending December 31st 2007 increased by 156%.

    • Individual pages viewed by visitors on Black Entertainment USA increased by 367%

    • The number of visitors from countries across the globe increased by 35%

    • At the Vass site the breakdown was (this blog only existed for the last 4 months of 2006):

    • Visitors for the full year increased by 5900%

    • Individual pages viewed by visitors on Vass increased by 9700%

    • While the number of countries remained relatively flat. The lack of growth in countries outside the USA may be attributable to the increased focus on the Presidential race and candidate's campaigns throughout 2007 as well as the limited time of existence in 2006.

The M V Consulting, Inc. corporate homepage was launched in May 2007 and therefore has no comparative numbers. Growth was solid and comparable to the first 7 months of either blog, reaching on average 48 countries across the world.

The Company also owns an online store which features 12 separate and distinct clothing lines, as well as providing custom designed mugs, mouse pads, Teddy bears, gift cards, journals, postage stamps and more. Individual sales figures for this division are not reported.

Results of the Company's SEO division are not reported and considered proprietary.

    Other events

Several other events occurred in 2007 that were of significant importance. The Company created and sponsored 3 separate contests in 2007.

  • Robin Roberts book - From the Heart - in association with Authorsontheweb.com

  • Dinner at the Instinct Restaurant - in association with Instinct in Endicott, New York

  • $1000 for the holidays - run by M V Consulting Inc. with a $100 bonus added to the winning prize given to Cheryl W of New York State.

In addition to these contests, the company was contacted by TV One, which reaches 40 million people via its cable network channel. On December 1st 2007 TV One had a live webcast of the Heartland Presidential Forum, for which it selected 5 political bloggers to comment on live. Of the thousands of potential bloggers available, President Michael Vass was selected for his writing at the Vass blog, and was invited to join the event as one of the 5 bloggers. The company accepted, creating over 9 posts related to the event (prior and after the event) including 6 live during the event.

TV One and M V Consulting, Inc. cross-promoted the event via the individual websites of each company.

    Additional items

To date, the various blogs of the Company have created nearly 1000 posts in total. In 2007 alone there was an increase of 201% in the number of posts. The blogs had a total number of posts that exceeded the number of days in the year, thus exceeding publication rates of virtually every other media format and/or syndicated author.

The blogs of the Company have dealt with some of the most topical issues of the year, if not several of the most controversial in perhaps 100 years. Those topics included the death of Anna Nicole Smith and James Brown. The scandals surrounding Don Imus, Duane 'Dog' Johnson, Michael Vick, and Megan Williams. The Presidential candidates of both political parties. Also news involving entertainers and celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Wesley Snipes, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, and more. Not to mention reviews of restaurants, movies, books, and video games and information about Darfur and the Child Solider Prevention Act.

President Michael Vass is also a contributing author for the 1800blogger.com family of blogs. Mr. Vass writes for a total of 8 additional blogs on a regular basis besides those of the Company.

Mr. Vass stated, "This is only the beginning. Growth has exceeded all expectations and for 2008 we have raised the bar. While visitors to the various sites of the Company equaled or exceeded several metropolitan areas of the United States, our goal now is to reach the equivalent population of the major urban centers of the nation, if not New York City itself. Expect to see our clothing lines in colleges across the nation. And we are looking to lock down 2 exclusive sponsors for the various sites, further minimizing advertising clutter and providing an immersive and non-distracting atmosphere near term. Expect more news on other events soon."

Success in 2007 - Thank You

As the year is coming to an end I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the reasons why I have had a successful and prosperous year. I would love to say it was merely my efforts and quality of my writing that has grown all my blogs and M V Consulting, Inc. But to say that would be a lie.

In the past year I have spoken with, read blogs and articles by, and debated with multiple bloggers, programmers, graphic artists, lawyers, friends and associates. It is because of this multitude of people I have had the ideas, and comments I have shared with you all, and it has shaped in part or in whole the look of all my sites. I can only hope I will always be aware enough to pay attention to such good advice and insight, and thus provide the caliber of posts you have all come to expect.

In particular there are several that stand out and I want to thank directly. I invite you to review their sites and blogs as well.

    Top blogs

  • http://www.Buzzologysurveys.blogspot.com – A long time supporter of my blogs and efforts. I’m always happy to work with this blogger.

  • http://caseylartigue.blogspot.com - One of the bloggers that joined me in the TV One sponsored live commentary on the Heartland Presidential Forum.

  • http://www.polichicksonline.com - Another of the bloggers that joined me in the TV One sponsored live commentary on the Heartland Presidential Forum.

  • http://www.africanamericanopinion.com – A site I cross-blog at that also occasionally provides me thoughts to post on. Filled with multiple views that cross the spectrum.

  • http://www.1800blogger.com – I am a contributing author to multiple blogs here and work closely with this company.

    Sites

  • http://www.tvoneonline.com/presidentialforum.asp - TV One selected my blog and several other bloggers to comment live on the Heartland Presidential Forum. You can see the Forum at this site, and also get to view the 5 bloggers invited to be involved in this event.

  • http://www.theaddesignguys.com - Graphic Design Services – My graphic designer, who takes my jumbled ideas and turns them into the polished t-shirt, mug, Teddy bear, and site graphics you see.

  • http://www.authorsontheweb.com – They selected my blog to review the Robin Roberts book, From the Heart, and worked with me in providing my first give away contest.

  • http://www.prweb.com – The media outlet that I use to distribute my press releases. Affordable, and effective in reaching the world.

  • http://www.cafepress.com – The basis on which my online store functions. Making it possible for even new entrepreneurs to be in business for themselves.

    Guest Writers and Friends

Each of these individuals has helped me consistently provide quality posts. Several have directly or indirectly created posts found at Black Entertainment USA or Vass

  • Michael H.
  • Audrey B.
  • Claudia M.
  • Jennifer V.

    Special note

  • Mr. Malik Shabazz – the attorney for Ms. Megan Williams in West Virginia. I’ve spoken with him several times, and supported his efforts at the rally to draw national attention to the horrendous kidnapping, torture, and rape of Ms. Williams.

It is in part due to the efforts and help of the above mentioned sites and people that I have been able to have the success that 2007 has been. I look forward to continuing the relationships I have, and growing to include others in 2008.

To those I have mentioned, and most importantly you my readers, I say thank you. None of my efforts would matter with out you.

Repost - Pros and Cons of Republican Presidential candidates

This is a repost that can be found at Vass

Not long ago I created a list of Pros and Cons of the leading Democratic Presidential candidates. To be fair and to see the differences I have complied a Pros and Con list for the leading major Republican candidates.

I do not presume that this list is all-encompassing. I recognize that while I have tried to be neutral, just as I was with the Democrats, I’m sure there are areas where my personal views entered. I do not claim my list is complete or how everyone feels. But I believe it is accurate.

Some issues may fall on both sides, because depending on personal views it is a positive or negative. Most are far more easily categorized. If you disagree, please make a comment and give your reasons why. You may be right, so why not share your thoughts?

You can see some of my source information at On The Issues and 2008 Election ProCon.

Now for the breakdowns (in alphabetical order):

      Rudy Giuliani

      Pros

    • 9/11
    • For the Death Penalty
    • Finish Iraq war
    • No Nuke Iran
    • Waterboarding (Torture ok)
    • Mayor of largest U.S. City
    • Lower taxes

      Cons

    • Mayor was highest level of public service experience
    • Relies heavily on 9/11

JP Morgan Chase on Slavery apology Part 2 - 5.15.2007.2

Continued from JP Morgan Chase sharholders vote on Slavery apology - 5.15.2007.1 Part 1...

Similar thoughts were held by Pete Flaherty, President of National Legal and Policy Center, who said,
“If JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon were alive 200 years ago and owned slaves, the apology would be appropriate. Otherwise it is about as cynical and as hollow as you can get.”

For its part JP Morgan did not back down. The company sought to have this resolution blocked by the SEC. That failed, but the JP Morgan Chase held the position issued in 2005 as stated in its proxy. The vote took place today during the Annual Meeting which started at 10am.

As stated by Mr. Joe Evangelisti, representative of JP Morgan Chase, to me directly via phone, the resolution only garnered approximately 2 ½% of votes. This resolution failed, and I commend both JP Morgan and its shareholders for that fact.

At a time in the nation where we are rightly punishing individuals that use the public airwaves to attack innocent citizens with crude racial slurs, and are taking to task entertainers that are using that same public radio medium (along with ringtones, music videos, and other mediums) to spew equally offensive comments under the pretext of artistic expression, we must stay aware. While some 97 ½% of votes stood behind JP Morgan Chase, the balance of the voters did not. Politicians continue to reject the thought of an apology or reparation. Legislation continues to be stagnant on addressing the past. The United States government still has never made a public apology, while apologies and reparations to Native American Indians and Japanese Americans have been.

This is the quiet, seldom spoken fact of American history. It is a lesson in humanity that we cannot learn from since we refuse to even address it. Some of us, from every creed and race, have looked in the mirror and come to terms with the past. But as seen in the need for a vote at JP Morgan Chase today, some have not.

The cost for a lack of vigilance is more than mere words, in my opinion. The stakes have not changed. Racism and the means to divide our citizens continue to exist, merely waiting for a time when few are watching to take root and prosper. In a world of soundbites and 30 second news clips it’s easy to lose sight of what is happening. But if we do lose sight, if resolutions are brought and commendable acts are rescinded, we travel a path to repeat history. That path is painful and detrimental to everyone, not just those targeted initially with injustice.

I’m happy to state that JP Morgan Chase stood their ground, that the shareholders in majority agreed, and that the apology and scholarship continue to exist. This is another step to a better, greater America in my opinion. Now let’s take another step.

This is what I think, what do you think?

Repost of Letter to Senator John McCain - 2.24.2007.1

This is a repost from www.mvass.com:

    February 23, 2007
    Senator John McCain,

I am writing your today due to your announced intention to seek the Presidency of the United States in the 2008 election. I have made similar inquiries to Senators Clinton and Obama, Mr. Edwards and Mr. Romney. I intend to also contact other individuals that seek the Presidency in the future.

Senator McCain, it is my firm belief that it is never too soon to ask questions of those that wish to hold the highest office of the nation. I believe that the right of American citizens to vote for our representatives in government must be tempered with a reasonable understanding of the positions and opinions of the candidates we must chose from. I equally feel strongly that those candidates, especially those seeking the Presidency, have an obligation to provide a full and clear explanation so that the public may make the best choice for the nation.

I also wish to make you aware that I am not just asking questions of you positions for my own benefit, but that of thousands of individuals most of which are Americans. By this I mean that each letter I have sent out has, and will be, reproduced word for word on several websites and blogs that I own or write for. These postings reach a cross-section of America in cities and towns of all sizes found in every state, and citizens of every political party, race, sex and age group.

While I cannot say that I can motivate these readers to vote as a group to or for any one individual, which is not my intention but rather providing information, I can say that there are far more than enough reading to have changed the outcome of the last 2 Presidential races.

I will further add that any responses to the following questions will be reproduced on the same sites this letter will be found on. I will NOT edit or change a single word of any response. I believe that your unalter comments are far too important.

If you wish to review some of the proposed websites they will include, but are not limited to, the following: www.mvass.com, www.blackentertainmentblog.com, www.vassconsult.com/politics/election2008.html .

As for my questions, one of the most prominent is that of your age. If you were to win the Presidential election you would be 72 years of age. Do you feel that your age is, or could become during your term, a matter of concern? If it is not, why do you believe this?

In reference to the current war in Iraq, and more generally on the issue of terrorism, you have stated clearly that you believe that America must act with decisive strength without pause until the mission is attained. You further have clearly stated that actions to limit troop strength or resources for troops is tantamount to emboldening the enemy. In the face of growing opposition to the war, why do you feel such a stance is required? What do you foresee as a consequence if we do not continue to fight? What exit plan do you have for Iraq, and how would you implement such a plan? What do you believe to be the steps in the near future that will be needed to ensure the safety of Americans at home and abroad?

I respect and understand the experiences you had during the Viet Nam war. My father also served in Viet Nam, in the Marine Corps, and I too volunteered for service. Given the tribulations of your decorated time in service, how would you lead the nation in dealing with the question of terrorist captives (which I believe do not fall under the Geneva Code) and gaining information to prevent future terrorist activities?

It has been noted that your positions on several issues have changed since the 2000 Presidential campaign or even before that. One of the questions has been your stance with regard to conservative Christians, specifically Rev. Jerry Falwell, where you seem to have backtracked. What was the motivation for your change of opinion from 2000 to 2006?

In regard to your stance on Roe v. Wade, you have said in 1999 that you would not repeal the law, though you wished there was no need for it. Recently you have changed your opinion to be actively against the law. What has caused your more aggressive stance?

Considering that you are in favor of teaching abstinence, against other forms of sex education and birth control, what do you believe will happen to those women that become pregnant if Roe v. Wade is repealed? Also what responsibility does the government have to mothers that find themselves with children but without enough means to support those children, and where does that funding come from, again if Roe v. Wade is repealed?

You have mentioned in the past, as I understand, that you would like to give a means for the illegal immigrants in the nation today to become citizens. What process would you follow to do this and do you feel that even the consideration of such a law would encourage further illegal immigration? Also by making a potentially 10-20 million individuals citizens in an extremely short period of time, how would the government handle the surge in social programs and government agencies (such as local DMV, Social Security, Welfare, Unemployment and so forth)?

I have certain fears in regard to embryonic stem cell research, which you have changed your opinion on. What swayed your opinion, and how would you as President help to restrict abuses from this research (such as genetic based diseases, targeted to specific genotypes such as Native Indians or Negroids or Pacific Islanders)?

What legislation have you enacted that directly improved the lives of African Americans and Hispanic or Latino Americans in your home state and the nation? In regard to education, what specific actions would you take to stem the growing numbers of African Americans that are dropping out of high school and/or finding the cost of higher education impossible to overcome?

I want to thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I look forward to your response. I again mention that this letter, and any response will be posted without an alteration.

    Sincerely,

    Michael Vass

M V Consulting, Inc. Announces Growth and Expansion Through 2006

This is a copy of my recent press release issued Jan 9, 2007

New York, NY (PRWeb) January 9, 2007 -- Mr. Michael Vass, president of M V Consulting, Inc. ("MVC") and author of Black Entertainment USA (www.blackentertainmentblog.com) and Vass (www.mvass.com) - wholly owned by MVC, announced the achievement of milestones and annual growth for the year ending December 31, 2006. Since the January 2006 launch of the websites over 320 web posts have been published to date. In this first year of operation there has been a large range of topics covered including: Black African American cultural trends in television, theatrical movies, music videos, video games; news relating to athletes, musicians, politicians, actors and other entertainers and celebrities; reviews of movies, books, and restaurants; national and or international events such as the World Cup and the war in Iraq.

"This has been an incredible year of growth. Since the inception of the sites there have been tens of thousands of visitors the sites owned by MVC. Visitors to the sites have come from countries across the globe including England, Ireland, Japan, Kuwait, Lesotho, Oman, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, and Venezuela to name a few. Acceptance on a global basis as has happened is a happy surprise and an expression of the need for honest commentary from a unique perspective," stated Mr. Vass.

Mr. Vass went on to say that, "With the speed that news and events can be learned of and communicated, larger media cannot always provide enough time for a topic that may be of interest. Busy individuals can't always take the time to seek out subjects that are important to them, if they even know these subjects have news. The fact that these sites also contain a personal viewpoint on these subjects adds a level of personal interaction that many media outlets cannot provide. These are the assets that I feel are vital to the growth that has occurred and continues as I speak. "

The websites, a blend of a traditional website and a blog (or weblog), have continued to expand in their content throughout the year. Currently the websites include sections such as a biography of Mr. Vass, original poetry, audio files for both the poetry and selected web posts, a continuously growing reference list of websites and information of importance, 2 reader feedback surveys, portions of a storyboard for a potential graphic novel or motion picture, a large and growing catalogue with models showcasing unique clothing lines found at the company's online store (cafepress.com/nova68), and a simple but effective sitemap to help guide visitors through the sites.

For additional information on this release, comments about this article, or general site information contact Mr. Michael Vass or visit either BlackEntertainmentBlog.com or MVASS.com. Comments on any posts should be added to the appropriate comments section on the sites.

The joys of Will Ferrell, Ping Pong and the Police - 1.5.2007.1

With the new year started I’ve decided to add a few different thing to the posts for the site. One thing that I will be adding is specifically due to the up-coming Presidential elections. For those that have visited my Vass site this is not new news but I am planning to write letters to the Presidential candidates, hopefully all of them, addressing concerns and asking specific questions on their platforms. My letters to these individuals will be posted unaltered, and when I receive a response it will be posted unaltered as well. At this time I have sent a letter to Senator Clinton, and Mr. John Edwards. Neither at this time have responded. I will try to mention the status of the letters going out, and any responses received on this blog once a week, but definitely at least once a month. The leadership of this nation is our choice, this is an opportunity to learn what we are choosing.

A separate item I plan to add on a weekly basis is a bit of a calendar. I hope to highlight various dates of note to Black Americans, and Latino Americans. This includes birthdays of famous individuals, ground-breaking firsts, and other items.

    In this week:
Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Lincoln
The first African American child is born in America in 1624. His name is William Tucker.
Congressional Black Caucus formed in 1974
The fountain pen is patented by William B. Purvis in 1890

Looking at other things happening in the last couple of days, there was good news for Mr. Will Ferrell and his family. Mr. Ferrell is now the father of his second child, a boy born just two days short of the new year. Congratulations and cheer to Mr. Ferrell and his family on this wonderful addition. I wish him the best.

In hopeful news there is a rumor that the band, the Police, will perform together again. It’s been some 2 decades since the band performed a tour and many have hoped to get a chance to see such a performance. While some of my readers may be unfamiliar with this band I believe they may be familiar with the lead singer and sometime actor Sting. For those that are unaware Sting did not start off as a solo artist. Actually they were not even a band at first, they were English teachers at a British school as I recall. (Yes Sting is British as are the other members of the band.)

It wasn’t until after the band had several chart topping hit albums that Sting went off to try his hand at a solo record. This lead to a very successful career. But there was never any reason why the band could not have continued. Unlike other break-up stories there were no frictions that would cause the band to end, as happened with the Beatles as an example. So a final performance tour would be a coup for fans who never got to see them together one last time. Keep your fingers crossed.

In the arena of the unusual there is news of a new challenge for Ping Pong players. If you thought you could take on Forrest Gump this is the next level for you. It’s called TriPong and the game is played with 3 players on a modified table. This is no joke, the game has been picked up and should be available for the next holiday season.

Perhaps it’s because I’m a city boy, but is there a real demand for ping pong? I mean I’ve never known anyone with a table, and only saw people playing the game at college. Call me sheltered but I never knew it was that popular. I suppose if you do have a table, this is a must have. I can definitely see how it could be good to give all the kids something to do besides playing a computer game. So if you are worried about your kids eye-hand coordination your wish has been answered. Except if you live in the city, I think.

This is what I think, what do you think?

    My best/worst video games of 2006 - 12.27.2006.2

**My comments on the passing of President Ford can be found at www.mvass.com**

Well it’s that time of year again. Time for the best and worst of what was 2006. I’ve already mentioned some of my thoughts about the year previously, now for some lists. Come on we all love a good list, sometimes even a bad one. Hopefully I will have the former and not the latter.

First off are video games. Yes, the bane of wives, mothers and girlfriends. A good game is worth it’s weight in coffee, or caffeinated drinks if you prefer, and then some. A bad game makes you think the ladies are right (unless you are Mr. Samuel Jackson – his wife loves them and so he married her or so he said at the Spike Video Game Awards). My preference is PC games, though I have a PS2 as well. My thoughts on other systems is culled from Gamespot.com, a site I find to be quite accurate and useful.

The number one game I played this year has to be Worldwide Soccer Manager. Most may not have heard of this one, it’s a European game but it’s fantastic. Very addictive and fills the time until the next World Cup, or the next version, quite well. If you love soccer (football to the rest of the world) you need this. It’s not a action game, but watching the matches play out is so close to the real thing you will be caught in it’s web quickly.

Guitar Hero is the second best game of the year to me. Yes I know that Guitar Hero II is out, and I have that as well. But I like the music on the original better. There is nothing like rocking to a classic rock song and feeling like you are playing it yourself. It’s as close to being in a rock band as I will ever get. If you want to do well on expert I suggest extreme practice or knowing how to play a guitar, I’m still not near that point yet.

Third for me is Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion. Immersive, graphically beautiful and open-ended. It’s hard to ask for more. There is little better than doing what you want in a world you can master. For the casual gamer it’s better than a MMO (massively multiplayer online game), and for those that are cheap. Expect to dedicate days and weeks to the game, looking for that better piece of armor, or sneaking into that one room to rob.

The new Wii system demands to be discussed as the sports are easily the best new innovation in some time. The Legend of Zelda has been a constant favorite since I was in college and the latest is no different.

On the other end are the games we really don’t want to ever remember playing.

First I must mention my hate of all the GTA rip offs. I find them to be playing to the worst stereotypes and making them glamorous. I dislike the thought and the intention. There is no benefit or justification of these games.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The kids all want this, and none of them should see it. Unless you hope for your child to become a buffed up, ignorant, pimp-drug dealing- gang member. I have nothing against violent games. I will not say that any game should not be made. But I don’t like this and never will.

Torino 2006. Like virtually any game that tries to cash in on a theme this fails. What more do I need to say than curling?

Superman Returns. Decent movie, crappy game. This helps to reinforce the idea that you never buy a game that is based on a movie. It’s just a way for the movie makes to suck away more of your money, regardless if the movie was good or not.

Infinity: The quest for earth. I’m not sure when this popped up. It’s supposed to be a free MMO, based in space. Of course like many of the new MMO’s (especially the free ones) it’s broken. Or not yet finished. Why it should exist as only part of a game I don’t understand.

2007 should be interesting. A lot of MMO’s are supposed to be coming out. Vanguard is the first one I think I will be checking out. That is after it launches and the bugs are found. Give it a month from launch and look for a review.

This is what I think, what do you think?
