There's still time

Just a quick reminder that there is still time to get a stylish and unique addition to your Halloween costume from Alchemy at World of Vass.

Of course you don't have to be just looking for an addition to the perfect look on Halloween to visit the store. With the addition of T-shirts (for men and women), as well as ciggerette cases, lighters, earrings, pendants, goblets, rings, shot glasses, cell phone chains and bracelets there is something for any occasion and everyone.

But that's not all. Soon we will be adding even more T-shirt selections, flags, posters, belt buckles, handbags, purses, wallets, flasks, cuff links, and more.

Whether you are goth or just a person that likes fine quality, authentic English Pewter, Swarovski crystals or something just a bit different, Alchemy at World of Vass has something I'm sure you will enjoy.

Thank you for your support. It is appreciated.

Fake boobs offend Ohio town

I hate hypocrites. Seriously, what is worse? Here is one example.

In Ohio, there is a guy who owns a burger joint. Like everyone these days, he is having trouble with making sales. So in a bit of inspiration, he decided to place a life-sized mannequin outside his store. So far I don't think anyone has a question.

But the mannequin is a woman. And clothed in a bikini. And the hypocrites came out in a storm.

"It's a sensational ploy to attract gawkers," neighbor Chris Broering said.

Are you kidding me?

Let's see if we got this right. In a nation where Levi's advertises spontaneous unprotected sex among 20-somethings, throughout the day in television commercials, in a nation where kids have access 24/7 to music videos objectifying women and glorifying drugs, a mannequin in a bikini is sensational?

I have to wonder if anyone has watched a soap opera in the last 2 decades. Maybe they have failed to watch a PG movie in the past 15 years. Somehow they have avoided television commercials going back to the early 80's. Because every one of these are far more provocative and explicit than a mannequin in a bikini.

Hell, where do you think Kenny Tessel got the idea for his K.T.'s Barbeque from? Going to church or companies that make billions of dollars and have tens of millions of viewers? I bet that if I open a local magazine for clothing, look at local billboards for perfume, cars, music, and/or movies I will see more suggestive and revealing images than the mannequin. But no one is complaining about that.

The local town council has said the mannequin is ok if it has a tshirt on. I'd gladly donate my Wanna Ride t-shirt for the mannequin. But considering that sales for Tessel went up 40% since having the fake model, I suggest he go right back to what was working. If the town doesn't like it, they can buy the store from him.

I wonder how the latest Bond movie, or any number of movies with gratuitous sex or cleavage did in Reading. Because if they made any money at all, I'd not only tell them what to do with their ideas for a business they don't own, I'd sue to hammer my point home.

A bit of pre-Super Bowl spice

Well there is some time before the Super Bowl starts, so I thought I'd add some spice in honor of Valentine's Day. Since everyone is aware that I have 18 clothing lines, and adding more regularly, with over 1500 designer items I figured I'd show off one of my latest t-shirts.

Michael Vass, President of M V Consulting, modeling the Male Wanna Ride - Black version - Tshirt

As male models go, I think I'm not bad for my age (40). Hopefully the ladies will agree. Please do be kind.

Of course this is just one of the multiple lines I have for Men's clothing. And there is no shortage of ideas that are coming up. But I like to keep the model pictures somewhat even, and of course with realistic people. Because if you think I look good in my clothing, I'm sure others will look even better.

Another photo of Michael Vass modeling the Male Wanna Ride tshirt. Check out the other mens clothing at www.cafepress.com/nova68

Of course there are the photo shotos of my other models as well. Like the recent 2009 calendar model Ashley France

2009 calendar model Ashley France. Check out her line of calendars and postcards.

And 2009 male calendar model Shawn Kennedy

Model Shawn Kennedy is featured on cards, calendars and more. There is something for almost everyone in our online store, check it out.

And from my first couple of photo shoots, Amamda Chestnut

Our first model Amanda Chestnut. She is featured on our calendars, cards, postcards, and more. See for yourself.

But check out the online store for yourself. I'm sure you will find something you like, or a great gift for Valentine's Day.

And I am still looking for more models, so if you are interested do let me know.

Upcoming events in December and for 2008 - 11.30.2007.2

From Michael Vass,

As we enter the month of December I just want to take a moment to share some of the things that are going on with M V Consulting, Inc. and all of its sites. As you may notice there has been a lot of activity in recent weeks. And I’m not planning on slowing down anytime soon.

Currently there is the $1000 Holiday Give Away Contest, which will end on December 15th. I invite everyone to review the rules at the above link or the press release at PRWeb (http://www.prweb.com/releases/2007/11/prweb569295.htm ). I’m looking forward to giving away the money and I hope a truly needy family or individual wins. Remember that the entry is free, and no purchase is required.

There is also the TV One webcast of the Heartland Presidential Forum on December 1st @ 2:30pm. As one of the bloggers selected to cover this webcast I look forward to sharing my thoughts on all the candidates comments. This is an important webcast as regular people will be providing questions for the candidates, live not YouTube. This is also critical as voting in primaries will start early January.

There is little more important than selecting who will run for President of the United States, and there has not been a more critical election, in my opinion, since the 70’s when I was a child. Every vote counts, as recent elections have proven, and never are they as important as the 2008 election.

You can see my political commentary from 2007 and in the future at Vass or at Presidential Race Blog where I also write.

But in more immediate terms there is the holiday season. Some may have taken a look in the past at my online store and I want to let everyone know that there are many types of t-shirts, mugs, mousepads, posters, jewelry boxes, Teddy bears, sweatshirts, and more available. There are over 10 different clothing lines featured at the store including Anti-MoveOn.org, Sexy Woman, You’ll Do (as seen above, a favorite among many women it seems), Cowboy Ride, and I am the Myth.

Oh, there is also a deal for purchases over $75. And as I mentioned in my press release, I will be donating all profits from the sales at the online store to $1000 Holiday Give Away Contest. While purchase is not required to enter or win, if you do see something you feel would be a great gift for someone or yourself (there are over 200 items available) it will go to help others.

In addition, for those with businesses or who just want to be charitable, all donations made to the $1000 Holiday Give Away Contest will be given out to the winner(s). Every dollar counts and adds to what will be given away.

In the near term I will be doing my annual lists, summing up some thoughts of 2007. In addition I will be reporting the growth of M V Consulting, Inc. and all its sites. It has been a tremendous year.

Looking to 2008, expect to see another $1000 Give Away Contest or several of them. I will continue to follow the Presidential race, right up to the election night. I will get some free time and will be doing a few photo shoots for the various clothing lines. [Anyone interested in being a model for the photo shoot can send a headshot and contact information to info@vassconsult.com] Additional clothing lines will be released throughout the year as well.

I will also be seeking one or 2 corporate sponsors for the various sites. It is my hope that by gaining dedicated sponsors I will be able to decrease the advertising found on each site (though I have tried to do my best to keep it minimal. But it costs money to keep things going. You can donate to help by going to the PayPal donation button at the top left of the sidebar).

There also will be some changes in the look of the blog sites. You are welcome to provide me any suggestions on changes you would like to see. I value the opinions of all my readers and those that leave comments, so tell me your thoughts.

You can look forward to better (I hope, I do make them myself) video ads, an improved resources pages, reworked gift store pages, and new video clips of posts (possibly in a news commentator style). These are ambitious (and costly) changes, so give me time but I’m working on it.

Again I thank you all for your readership and commitment to my blogs and sites. Remember to enter the $1000 Holiday Give Away Contest (it’s free and who couldn’t use the money?), and check out the TV One webcast of the Heartland Presidential Forum, and my commentary tomorrow.

Sincerely

Michael Vass

What a nightclub can tell you - 8.20.2007.1

I was out recently; at a club that has a huge hip hop following and I noticed a few things. Normally I tend to go to bars or more upscale places as they tend to have less of all the noise that I find gangsta rap to be, but I wanted to try something different. Different is hardly the word to describe what I noticed.

I realize that most would not go out in a suit to anywhere besides work, if it was required that they wear one. That is the general culture in America these days. Everyone wants to be as casual as possible. I am a bit old school, real old in style. I prefer to go out in a suit. I was raised that a man should stand out from a crowd. I was raised to take pride in my appearance. I have learned that most people make an assumption based on what you wear, and the first words out of your mouth regardless of the surroundings.

Given these facts, the particular club I was at, I was the only person in a suit. As I mentioned this is not a new experience for me. Every guy in the place, White, Black or Asian (yes they were all in the same place) was wearing sneakers or work boots, jeans, t-shirts and other accessories. You might have thought that there was some kind of music video going on.

Of course some were wearing their fake teeth. You may have seen this type of stuff before. Platinum, gold, diamonds and the rest in their mouths and earrings (usually just one) to match. It was quite the assortment of wannabe thugs, future rappers, convicts and soon-to-be convicts. When I say convicts, I mean just that as I was told by a few about the differences of county and state prisons. Joyous knowledge there.

But I started to wonder a few things. I tried to figure out how much money was being spent on this thug look, and comparing it to my own appearance. It was quite surprising.

Given the average thug there are sneakers that run about $150, jeans about $50, t-shirt (print on it) $45. Then there are the rings, gold with diamonds that can go from $325 to over $8000. A similar range can be found in gold teeth, ranging from a mere $30 to $7000. At a guess the top end of cost was not in this club, but some probably had the more mid-range of these items. Figure about $4000 at best, but more likely $2000.

For myself I had $200 shoes, a $1200 suit, and a $70 custom shirt. A mere $1500 for everything. I don’t wear rings, earrings or the like.

Before anyone might think me a pauper consider this. For all that money they are showing, they can’t wear most of it at work. Running around casually, they are targets to be robbed for the more expensive items. If they wanted to go to a fine dining restaurant, they wouldn’t be let in (well many of them). I don’t mean Red Lobster, or some other chain. That’s not fine dining; it’s just a fancier version of fast food.

Effectively they have a set of clothing that is useless for almost anything besides going out. Of course there are the more illegal occupations which it is perfect for. Yet again that also means that they are perfect targets for police to follow and arrest. The $2000 spinning rims don’t help either.

Continued in Part 2...
